Seems to be an unmanned version of a gyrodyne. A Chinese parade showcased them.

But if it is indeed an unmanned gyrodyne, what's the use case?

I'd imagine the use cases call for VTOL capabilities where altitude and speed are not top priorities. These autogyro UAVs also would be cheaper and easier to maintain than helicopter drones. They would come handy for light recon missions on the frontlines or forestry patrol, especially for firefighting.

The old guard mentality where they just upgrade existing platforms. Practically that's fine just as long it does the job but if they're looking to export, then they better think about design where customers want to see something new. How long did we have go through seeing white wall tires in parades until someone probably kicked the bucket and China was brought into the modern era?

How much runway do these use? I used to watch them at a local airfield and it was about the same as a general ultralight?

My guess would be shorter than the manned version since it doesn't need to carry the mass of one/two people.

The Feilong-2 stealth bomber UAV from Feilong Intelligent Technology. This appears to be a scale model or a very early technology demonstrator at best. See press release from the company below for more details: some very grand claims are being made by the company. I don't know what to make of it, but this needs to be shared for the record.

Recently, the first prototype of Feilong-2 unmanned stealth bomber developed by Zhongtian Feilong (Xi'an) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. has rolled off the production line, marking that the development of Feilong-2 UAV has officially entered the "fast lane".

Feilong-2 unmanned stealth bomber adopts flying wing tailless layout, piggyback inlet and embedded bomb bay design, which eliminates the strong reflection mechanism of radar waves; the total amount of composite materials in the aircraft reaches more than 90% and is laid on the surface of the skin The new radar absorbing material further reduces the intensity of the radar echo; the radio frequency antennas are installed in the same shape with the skin, and the frequency selective surface (FSS) technology is adopted, the optical reconnaissance equipment and the body structure are integrated design, and the surface is coated with a metal coating , Avoiding the strong reflection effect of the traditional configuration; the active radar adopts broadband and frequency hopping working system to reduce the probability of interception; the engine nozzle adopts a two-dimensional fixed nozzle, and is cooled by a jet jet, which greatly reduces infrared radiation strength. Therefore, the Feilong-2 unmanned stealth bomber has excellent omnidirectional radar and infrared stealth performance. The Feilong-2 unmanned stealth bomber is a new generation of high-end unmanned combat platform developed by Zhongtian Feilong based on the judgment of the future war pattern. Its omnidirectional radar and infrared stealth capabilities penetrate the enemy’s tightly fortified large and deep areas; equipped with a variety of optical and active and passive radar payloads, it can detect and automatically identify various targets on the battlefield under complex weather conditions all-weather; it can carry multiple types Precision-guided weapons against enemy command centers, early warning radars, air defense systems, military airports, aircraft carriers, troop assembly points and other critical battlefield nodes; they can be used as "loyal wingmen" of manned stealth aircraft to coordinate complex tactical tasks, and can also be used according to forecasts. Set up strategies to implement autonomous attacks; can carry a large number of "swarm" drones equipped with modular mission loads to conduct distributed reconnaissance, electronic jamming/suppression, saturation attack and damage assessment of battles and tactical targets protected by the enemy’s advanced air defense system, Has a strong battlefield survivability.

The flying speed, combat radius, ammunition capacity, and stealth performance of the Flying Dragon-2 unmanned stealth bomber are close to those of the B-21 "Raider" stealth bomber being developed by the US military. However, the procurement cost of the Flying Dragon-2 UAV and its full life cycle use The cost will be significantly reduced. In particular, according to the development plan of the Flying Dragon, the Flying Dragon-2 unmanned stealth bomber will complete its first flight and commercialization before the U.S. B-21 "Raider" stealth bomber, and the U.S. military will once again face the problem of "falling behind before it is in service." Dilemma. Zhongtian Feilong (Xi'an) Intelligent Technology Co., Ltd. adheres to the concept of "being the pioneer of the aerial unmanned combat system", actively explores future unmanned warfare forms, and develops differentiated unmanned combat equipment. Feilong-2 unmanned stealth bomber, as a master of research and development and production capacity of Zhongtian Feilong, and the advanced unmanned early warning aircraft, anti-submarine aircraft, electronic warfare aircraft, etc. under development together form the high-end drone series spectrum of Zhongtian Feilong. Show your skills in future high-tech wars.

I found the spec sheet for this UAV from the last Zhuhai show. It directly contradicts the company's latest press release saying it's a stealth bomber. The spec sheet says it's a unmanned high-subsonic transport platform. Maybe the design is suitable for both roles, but I see a widening credibility gap.

It is possible that they moved the designation to a different aircraft after the initial design didn’t pan out.

Could be, but this private company is tooting its own horn awfully loud. They only other product is a WingLoong-I/II style drone. To jump from that to a strategic stealth bomber drone in the same class as the manned B-21 Raider is a leap too far for me. Maybe they are trying to get PLAAF's attention.

In the Key Technology part doesn't item 1 say it uses stealth design? Including S-duct intake?
