Apparently the WZ-8 is rocket powered and air-launched via H-6. It has also participated in numerous classified operations so it has been in service for a while.
The nozzle clearly confirm’s rocket engine, beside that there are no air intake. I watched the parade on a 75 inch screen and rerun a couple of times, there is no intake.

The rocket engine is single-use only but the airframe can be recovered, as the landing gears attest.

The real question is how fast can this bird go?
