And expensive to build, and totally worthless unless the PLAAF invests more in AWACS.

Let's not even consider cost or the logistics and support... Why on earth would you arm what is obviously meant to be a VLO, high speed plane with external weapons that obviously cannot fit inside its tiny airframe which lacks space for a weapons bay? -sigh-

And also it is armed with air-to-ground munitions, which is not what this plane would be designed for.

Just take it as light-hearted cg.

An AEW UAV. Would something this small work or is this a small scale model for something larger?

Apparently this showed up at the same demo as the J-31 model... There is a high probability that this is a real project.

There were one or two other UAVs at that same demo...

But I agree, that particular design looks the most likely to be a real project. It heavily resembles the X-45C and this image from a study considering a large strike ucav of 10mx14m

Considering the recent exploits of X-47B and Neuron, with western military aviation press trumpeting their progress it's going to dampen the parade a little of SAC show off this UCAV of theirs (huitong calls it skybow) within a month or two. Beyond then, the hype around UCAVs will have died down a little.

Once you have the J-20 directing a squad of these things it could potentially be a game changer.
