Future lead in Trainer aircrafts would use derivatives of engines to train for a certain aircraft. Trainee pilots would get chance to train on aircrafts with different types of engine derivatives for other set of aircraft type. Pertaining to requirements of the trainee batch training aircrafts would use different engines. Aircraft would not have a single engine for every segment of the training batches. It would be to fast track the training leading to transition to operational aircrafts.

Hi all,

There may yet be a chance for the L15 in Uruguay - there are rumours that two members of the Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya are to visit China soon to look at the current capabilities of the aircraft. A team went to visit in 2013 but considering the development work done since then it's probably worth a second look.

Money may be freed up by the cancellation of a Spanish built OPV (that competition was actually won by a Chinese shipyard) so the current government might be looking at that offer again and might try to get a better price combined with an L15 acquisition

At the arrival ceremony in Durazno, Uruguay for the first two Super Tucanos, the Uruguayan Ministry of Defence issued a statement that included mention of the search for another combat aircraft, presumably a jet aircraft. The Fuerza Aérea Uruguaya have no doubt advised the government that future narco trafficking flights can adapt to the presence of the Super Tucanos by switching to aircraft with higher speed and altitude which would require the FAU to acquire aircraft to counter that threat.

During Uruguayan President Yamandu Orsi's recent visit to China there was no official mention of military acquisitions but given the increasing economic relationship between Uruguay and China, I would definitely say it's possible and have to think the L15 remains a prime candidate. Uruguay has cancelled it's OPV deal with a Spanish company which might reopen a deal with China and that could easily include other weapon systems...
