All this talk about the JJ-9 gaining more and more momentum with the various branches of the PLA makes me wonder if the LFC-16 project is still being taken seriously

It’s an attempt at a cheap replacement for the J-7. There are lot of J-7/MiG-21 users worldwide. With the FC-1 costing what?...15 million USD? This is a much cheaper alternative. Doesn't have any FBW, but uses added control surface.

Someone please correct me if I’m mistaken, but I remember it was either the 2002 or 2004 Zhuhai airshow when it was displayed? The design company claimed that their “non-fbw” (inexpensive) fighter with the help of extra control surfaces would equal a “fbw-equipped’ (expensive) fighter. It would be interesting to see the concept being demonstrated.

Generally many navies feel 'safer' with a twin engine aircraft, complete engine failure in the middle of the ocean is not an ideal situation to be in but you are correct, many countries, such as the US's T-45 Goshawks are single engine

Well, any sort of engine failure is bad, whether it is on land or at sea. And since this is a trainer, it's not designed to fight intense wars or operate far from the carrier anyway. Small size = more trainers on board a carrier during a training run, though I am not sure that actually matters.

The US had may single engine aircraft that were flown by the Navy, such as: A-4, A-7, F-8; The French with the Super Etendard. Some times with a small carrier you may need small aircraft. Besides, the maintenance and there take off weight are less. Shorter take off runs. This comes in handy when you don’t have a catapult, but a ramp.
The L-15 will make an excellent carrier aircraft.

Hongdu delivered the last 11 K-8P of the 27 on order from Pakistan. This contract was signed in 2005 and the first K-8P was delivered in August of 2006.

Also on September 24th, China delivered the final 12 of 18 K-8W to Venezuela.

据介绍，K8P飞机是K8飞机经重大改进后的新型外销机，是洪都集团外贸出口的重点机型。2005年，洪都集团与巴基斯坦签署了27架K8P飞机的出口合同，首批K8P飞机于2006年8月25日交付。

　　据江西省国防科学技术工业办公室消息，此前的9月24日，洪都公司还在南美某国空军基地向用户交付了12架K8W飞机。这12架飞机是用户采购的18架飞机中的第二批。洪都公司复装交付人员仅用18个工作日就将12架飞机全部复装完成，并在不到一个月时间内完成全部交付、试飞工作，创造了K8外贸机交付历史上单月交付数量最多、交付进度最快的纪录。

　　23架K8外贸机的顺利交付，为海外用户对K8系列飞机的后续采购打下了一个良好的基础。

　　近年来，洪都航空工业集团公司致力于开拓国际市场。该公司研制生产的K8系列飞机目前已达到国际同类产品的先进水平，拥有十个国家的用户，累积销售 500多架。近几年，洪都公司对K8飞机加大了科研投入，改进了航电系统，推出了K8P飞机屏显技术状态，产品进行了升级，得到国际用户的一致赞誉。

First Flight of 06 L-15

2010年10月26日下午15点55分，在江西南昌中航工业试飞站，我国首架加力型高级教练机-LI5猎鹰06架成功首飞，在进行了15分钟的2次通场飞行后安全降落！
值得一提的是此次首飞是在大风天气下进行的，起飞距离非常短，随后06架将进行多项测试并参加11月的珠海航展！！

L-15 was displayed at the 2008 Zhuhai airshow, including the flight demonstration session.

　国产首架初教七型飞机11月将亮相第八届中国国际航空航天博览会（简称第八届中国航展），并进行静态展示。

　　初教七是中航工业江西洪都航空工业集团有限责任公司为了满足部队进行飞行员筛选、初级训练以及民用空航空飞行俱乐部需求，全新设计的一款运动/ 教练型飞机。该机座舱采用了数字化综合屏显、设置了弹射救系统、座舱环境舒适，符合国际惯例。飞机的各项技术指标较初教六得到进一步提升，机动性能进一步加强。

　　初教七型飞机于2007年获国防科工委批准立项。2008年在第七届中国航展上首次展出模型。2010年3月完成详细设计，开始全面试制，9月中旬部装开铆，10月20日完成部装，交付进入总装。

　　首架初教七型飞机完成总装及喷漆后，将作为地展机全新亮相11月16日至21日在广东省珠海市举行的第八届中国航展。(杨铁虎)

A little bit about CJ-7. It became a national defense project in 2007, first shown as a model in 2008. The design was completed by March 2010 and began full testing. In December 20th, the parts finished assembly and it entered final assembly. Once the first CJ-7 finishes assembly and painting, it will be displayed in the 8th Zhuhai airshow.

Sorry if I wasn’t clear above. I was referring to the LFC-16 at the Zhuhai air show
