I was disheartened to read this. I switched my all Apple family to all Huawei. And I am in Canada.

It's a bit hard to carry on with this given that the new Huawei phones all do not have GMS.

Probably have to start looking at Mi or Oppo?

Apple consumer electronics may not be worth the price but they are indeed high quality products and the ecosystem is great. I would argue that the fact that they are overpriced is a draw TBH.

There's a great story about a brand of Sake in Japan that was insanely expensive. The company reduced their prices to try and sell more but their brand then collapsed. Turns out people bought that liquor mostly for banquets or gifts to show off. The enormous price tag and insinuated status/flex was actually core to the brand.

Also, Apple, especially under Tim Cook has taken great pains to do right in building and maintaining their Chinese supply chain even in the face of hostility by the Mil-industrial complex. Hard to be mad at them.
Apple's virtual assistant "Siri" is far superior to anything their competitors have been able to come up with. It and the seamlessness is the only thing I like about the phone and smartwatch. Meanwhile Samsung and Oppo are very poor also rans in that area.

I got no problems in using Google Assistant for just about everything. The voice recognition is superb. In fact I find Google Assistant to be indispensable.

Read and weep. They actually don't know that Huawei's struggle is why China will dominate

This is the same magazine that had created the now infamous COVID handling resilience country ranking to put the US at the top; it's also the same magazine that gushed that the US economy would outgrow the Chinese economy in the next nine quarters or whatever number of quarters they came up with extrapolating a one quarter growth number dubiously-defined.

You have to understand that the US elites and pundits are on edge these day, so scared of the prospect of being overtaken by China. They're pretty powerless to reverse the trend given all the sh*ts that have been going on, so they resort to the only thing that they know best: inventing narratives backing up by questionable arguments and dubious numbers.

That is, change the perception, if you can't alter the reality.
