Financing hit a new high! SiC and related materials team industrialization company completed a new round of financing of 100 million yuan​


Recently, Zhongke Huizhu, the industrialization company of Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory ("Laboratory") SiC and related materials team, completed a new round of financing of RMB 150 million, which will be mainly used for continuous R&D investment and capacity expansion. It is reported that this round of financing was jointly initiated and established by SDIC and Songshan Lake Materials Laboratory, and led by a fund managed by SDIC Chuanghe. Well-known domestic investment institutions such as Lihe Capital, Shenzhen Venture Capital, China Securities Capital, and Yaotu Capital Follow up.
The SiC and related materials team is led by Chen Xiaolong, a researcher at the Institute of Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences. It is one of the first batch of innovative model factory projects introduced and cultivated by the laboratory in 2018, focusing on the research and development of high-yield and low-cost silicon carbide (SiC) epitaxial wafers and high-quality Mass production provides strong support for the rapid development of my country's third-generation semiconductor industry.
Its industrialization company Zhongke Huizhu is a high-tech enterprise integrating R&D, production and sales of SiC epitaxial materials, and is committed to becoming a world-class semiconductor key material production and service provider. Zhongke Huizhu is based on the key core technology of self-innovated SiC epitaxy. The main products have obtained multiple rounds of chip verification from leading domestic SiC device companies, and the planning and construction of SiC epitaxy production lines is in progress.
The completion of the company's current round of financing will accelerate the localization process of SiC epitaxy. It is a major progress in the ecological layout of the SiC semiconductor industry for the laboratory, and it is also another acceleration relay for the laboratory to accelerate the transformation of scientific research results into real productivity.

Shengmei Shanghai: ALD equipment is being verified by customers and is expected to be completed next year​

Recently, Shengmei Shanghai said in an agency survey that the ALD equipment has been delivered to customers in September this year and is in the process of verification. It is estimated that the verification will be completed in 2023. Sales expectations for furnace tube equipment next year: High-vacuum alloy tempering furnace, LPCVD, high-temperature oxidation diffusion furnace and ALD have repeated and new customer orders. It is expected that next year will be a year of explosive growth in furnace tube equipment sales.

In terms of cleaning equipment, Shengmei Shanghai only had single wafers in the past, and the company's tank cleaning equipment began to contribute revenue in 2019. In October last year, the cumulative shipment of single-chip cleaning equipment reached 2,000 cavities. In November this year, the cumulative shipment of single-chip cleaning equipment reached 3,000 cavities. In a little over a year, the company’s single-chip cleaning equipment increase rapidly. At the same time, the company's trough equipment has contributed to the total order of cleaning equipment this year, so in terms of relative proportion, the proportion of the overall sales of cleaning equipment has not declined, and it remains at about 70%.

According to Shengmei Shanghai, there are two main driving forces for cleaning equipment. One is the heavy capacity of tank cleaning equipment in the mature process. No matter from the perspective of technology or client feedback, the company’s cleaning equipment belongs to the leading position in China in terms of 12 inches, and it is expected to continue to grow in this field in the future; secondly, in the field of advanced manufacturing processes, supercritical carbon dioxide drying technology is the leading position in today’s cleaning equipment. The highest technology, this technology also represents the peak of the cleaning core technology required for new 3D structures in the future. Subsequent companies will launch this technology simultaneously in the domestic and international markets, and the market space is broad. At the same time, we can see that Shengmei is the company with the most complete range of cleaning equipment in the world. In the future, the company hopes to obtain a domestic market share of 50%, and an international market share of about 20%-30%.

As for copper plating equipment, it said that this year, the company's copper plating equipment sales are very good, and the shipment volume has increased significantly compared with last year. Mainly to obtain a large number of orders from a front-end customer and a bulk order of 10 units from a packaging customer. In terms of customer introduction, this year the company won a repeated order from a Taiwan-funded enterprise. On the whole, it is expected that the company's copper plating equipment will continue to grow rapidly next year.

In terms of international customer development, at present, Shengmei Shanghai has delivered 1 ECP, 3 PR cleaning equipment and 1 single-chip cleaning equipment to the FAB factory of international customers in China, and two single-chip megasonic cleaning equipment has been delivered to the United States. Some customers, the commissioning work went smoothly. The international sales team is actively developing major customers in Taiwan, South Korea, and Europe.

In terms of components, Shengmei Shanghai said that overall, the proportion of American components is about 5% to 10%. Among them, the electroplating equipment basically does not depend on the United States, and there are basically alternatives for others, but it takes time to verify on the production line.

big surprise. liquid and dry tech is not that related. they have totally different materials requirements which means totally different machining and treatment capabilities. for example dry etch/deposition requires lots of knowledge in metal machining, ceramic coating and knowledge of plasma chemistry. But liquid phase requires lots of knowledge in solution phase inorganic chemistry, polymer engineering and liquid waste management.

They are both different variation of "linux" so "mostly yes" but all flavors of linux carry similar drama of potential different package management, kernals, core libraries etc
They all run the Linux kernel it would be a waste of resources for big companies to not use the Linux kernel. They should focus on application packages and application runtimes.

Once that is consolidated chinese companies should think about maybe replacing the Linux kernel with something domestically made.

It seems to me every tool maker is seriously trying to localize their supplier chain. They are doing a better job of what their fab customers did in the past...and now they have to rush. Very probably localization rate is among their main

Unfortunately is not easy, and definitely not quick, to validate a new supplier for a machinery manufacturer, for any kind of machinery, and I'd guess for SME is even harder. There are many process milestones along the road and many things can go wrong (and they usually do).

So it is important that Chinese SME already started with this multi-year activity, because sooner or later it will be needed (I am afraid, it will be sooner).

I know that YMTC is making a progress in advanced nodes, but CXMT remains silent.

So this is kind of a problem for Chinese chipmakers that SMIC alluded to. One of the side effects of US sanction is not even the sale of tools themselves, but rather the demand from American customers. Currently, 20% of SMIC revenue comes from America and SMIC talked about the need to inform their customers that SMIC is 100% complying with the sanction directives in order to keep their business. Now, the other side of this is that Chinese automakers and laptop brands should increasingly be ordering from Chinese chipmakers for the same reason, but new business ties take time to form. Regardless of what SMIC says, I'd be surprised if America region remains 20% of their revenue long term.
