I have found this document online. It is very interesting regarding the current status of China semi equipment manufacturersView attachment 65750
The diagram looks about right.
China has already finished developing a 100% Indigenous 28nm Production line. The new SMEE 28nm DUV will initially be used on this production line.
The Research and Development is now currently focused on the development of 14nm Semiconductor Equipment.
The 14nm node is important as it will produce the first 14nm FINFET Chips in China.
I also noticed that Research is already being done on 5nm and 7nm Semiconductor Equipment.

There was an article in GT mentioning breakthrough in laser that could be used for 5nm. What happened to that?

Hi WTAN,

Any info regarding SMEE EUVL? pls ck Alb PDF attachment whole report. And kindly summarize to us ;), My Chinese reading skill is mediocre to say the least.;)
Unfortunately there has been no updated news about the EUVL development recently. Dont known why. Even the usual reliable sources have nothing new to report. Maybe they want to keep this EUVL development low key because Western Interests have been getting anxious about Chinese progress in Lithographs and have been snooping around.

The report is basically a Stockbrokers Report about the general World Semiconductor Industry and the Lithographs produced by ASML, Nikon and Canon etc.

Its nothing really new that we dont already know about in this forum.

The only interesting bit is that they confirmed that there is a 02 Special Project to develop an advanced DUVL Machine. This is the SMEE 28nm Immersion DUVL which will be able to produce 7nm Chips.

They also gave a list of some Chinese Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturers which are listed on the Shenzhen and Shanghai Stock Exchange. Analysing them and their performance.

I think they are still working on that. I think the goal is to use 2 Arf 193nm Immersion Lasers???? to get a Light Wavelength that is similar to that of EUV 13.5nm.
Maybe makes it cheaper and easier to produce instead of LPP.

I am not entirely sure because the whole thing is still rather vague. Dont quote me on this. LOL!

Seems like Google is now blocking Kirin processors

For years I have manually downloaded .apk of Google Maps and other apps to install by hand. In recent weeks I noticed for the very first time when now trying to install the latest/newer versions of Google Maps app via apk it now says not compatible with the phone processor/CPU, whereas previous versions of the exact same app/apk on the same phone have no such issue. Now the app refused to even start the install process itself...

I tested these newer Google apk apps on a much much older Samsung phone and it installed perfectly with non such issues nor error prompt/messages. I also tested these new apps on different Huawei devices including Huawei P30, P20, P40 etc and they were all blocked from installation due to "incompatible CPU/processor"

I think Google isnt happy that Huawei is working on its own OS, app store, and Huawei Maps.....

I get by with a little help from my friend, MediaTek had given a life line next year by Chinese mainland company, Its better to help our Taiwan compatriot than the American Qualcomm, TSMC will had a great 2021 as most of the MediaTek 5G chips will be fabricated.

The plan spin off of the HONOR brand is to avail the MediaTek chips, is this a way to circumvent the ban?

MediaTek's 2021 5G chip shipments may exceed 120 million as OPPO, Xiaomi orders increase

MediaTek's 2021 5G chip shipments may exceed 120 million as OPPO, Xiaomi orders increase-cnTechPost

MediaTek may ship more than 120 million 5G chips next year due to increased orders from major customers such as OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi, the Economic Daily News said, citing industry insiders.
By comparison, MediaTek is expected to ship about 45 million 5G chips this year.

The report said MediaTek 5G chip shipments will increase, mainly benefiting from next year's global 5G cell phone mass replacement wave, especially in China, non-Apple brands are almost all MediaTek customers.
Huawei has announced the split of Honor, which ships 70 million low- and mid-range handsets per year, which will enable MediaTek to ship 150 million 5G chips next year, the report said.
Citing industry sources, the report said MediaTek's market share in 5G cell phones this year is about 22.5 percent. If next year's global smartphone shipments reach 500 million units, MediaTek's market share of next year's 5G chip shipments could climb to about 24 percent.
If MediaTek ships more than 150 million 5G chips next year, then its market share is expected to reach 30%, closing the gap with Qualcomm.

Hi ansy1968,

Yeah, that is my take, Ren Zhengfei is doing guerilla war.

Huawei is fighting the US government. But now, all of the sudden, you cannot find Huawei mid low end phones. Those phones have blended back into the countryside.

Who are the Americans going to attack (with sanctions), when they cannot find the enemy?

Next thing that happened, was that Nixon started bombing Cambodia, in hopes of stopping the Ho Chi Minh Trail. It was a sign that war was slipping out of hand.

What happened next, was the people started to rebel and not like that war. You would think they would support the war and have their back. Today, the Germans do not like this Huawei versus US government war.

Hi horse,

Bro, I really like the way you phrase it and it got me thinking WOW!!!WHAT A STRATEGY. Ren Zhengfei is a fan of Mao and he takes inspiration from him. It may buy Huawei the time it needed to reorganize and become an IDM. Its a LONG MARCH toward the goal of self sufficiency.

The American and most western countries don't understand the Chinese way of thinking, I may sound arrogant, but the way we think focuses on the achievable, it may take time but patience is one of our attributes and hardship to.
