Chinese Movies

Yes I I was referring to 'Dragon Blade'. I was using Chrome at the time and sometimes it does not let me use the 'Quote' function.

Yes, it would have been a interesting matchup. While I dont know how they would have coped with Roman tactics, I do think the crossbow so well utilized by Qin Shi Huang would have still given the Han a advantage.

I recall invading China was on Tamerlane's bucket list. I wonder how he would have got on had he lived to do so.

And one on one, how well would Kublai Khans soldiers cope with the stylized Samurai style of fighting if his invasion force was able to land.

Ironically, the Romans were the only ones using crossbows in that movie. :D

As for Mongols vs Japanese, from what I recall, the Japanese were getting their asses kicked by the Mongol vanguard until the typhoon that sank the rest of the Mongol army resulted in the vanguard becoming cut off and surrounded. IIRC, Japanese swords were of such poor quality that they frequently broke against Mongol steel.

Japanese swords at that time were mostly made of pig iron, therefore it requires greater bending and folding of the molten metal to give it more strength, even than that wasn't enough against higher quality swords. That's why it takes swordsmen more practice on precision strike in order to prevent it from being broken.

Hey so I'm not sure if this is appropriate for this thread but their has been a recent Chinese Korean War movie <我的战争>, and it's suddenly got huge backlash. Now I'm not to much into politics, but what seems to be all the noise? I actually wanted to see this film from the early trailers, now the moods kind of died off.

From what I understand, the controversy came form an advertisement for the movie that generated huge backlash. The movie director and producers have disavowed the ad.

Just watched McDull Rise of the Rice Cooker and I gotta say besides from being appropriate for the kiddies, the "twist" is both a down to earth reminder and a nice break for adults from all the focus on conflict in so much entertainment targeting either kids or adults these days.
