There is a difference between power and energy. Power is energy over time, so you achieve very high power by firing in short bursts. But it doesn’t actually cause much damage.
Right, but don’t these short pulses cause mini-EMP detonations on the surface of the target while vaporizing it? These pulses blast through while frying the electronics inside.

It’s a bit like 100 tiny nukes going off, each second.

Also we have some evidence for Chinese continuous power MW laser.

The LW-30 laser weapon system is now mounted on a different truck.

Not just that. They integrated the search radar onto the same platform.

More importantly, all of the platforms on display could be integrated into a single system. It could leverage the relative advantages of missiles, EW, laser, and netcasters in a joint system.
