Hello everyone! I was wondering if you could help me out with a vehicle ID on a APC version of what I thought was the APC variant of the ZBD04A, but it only have 5 roadwheel, instead of the ABD-04A six roadwheel.

I have seen else where it is identified as coming from the ZSD89 family, but the track, suspension, roadwheels, return rollers, driver's hatch, engine intake and radiator fan-tower exhaust (using US terms) on the top of the vehicle make it appears that this vehicle is a variant of the ZBD04/ZBD97 series and not the ZSD89 (which track is not as wide as this vehicle).
Am I wrong or can anyone point me to the correct terminology for this vehicle?
Thanks in advance

This is an APC variant of the ZBD04 family. I don't know the precise designation. It's rarely seen these days. I wonder if it's been adopted into wide service.

It's the ZSD-89A, modernised version of the ZSD-89. It serves as the basis of many of the PLA's support vehicles, including APCs (ur picture), reconnaissance vehicles, PLZ-10 gun mortar, amored ambulances, command vehicles etc.

Also, if you havent noticed from the pictures, this family of vehicles is kinda confusing bc some variants (like the APC) have 5 road wheels while others have 6.

Thank you very much for pointing this out. It would make sense to have the ZSD89-series vehicles incorporate lessons learned from the ZBD04 & ZBD04A development.
And Yes you are correct the 5 or 6 roadwheels really confuses the situation. The images of the engine-transmission pack removal of the ZBD04, PLZ10 Gun-Mortar track and ZSD89A Command variant was also interesting.
Again thank you very much for information.

8x8 mine clearing vehicle with its microwave emitter deployed (the spider web looking thing). The emitter can disable electronics in landmines or detonate the mines from a safe distance.
