Well I'm not. 5 years behind the promised schedule is egregious (before anyone takes it literally I meant insiders indication). We all wanted it to be in service this year.

Atp I care more about the WS-10H2 than WS-15.

If it is between not getting a radar upgrade and slashing number of aircraft inducted than waiting one or two years for target engine, I’d gladly take the latter.

you guys seriously think.. it will take Five more years ?? nope.

Cute orca words - it needs polishing

i m not giving false hope but it won't take additional five years. Polishing means shine. if i interpret accurate, it means need more precision or require additional work. it won't take much time. and remember, J-20A powered by WS-10C is a thing of 2024.

1) "polishing" does sound like something for ceramic composites,
Wut? Polishing is used metaphorically here, as in this essay draft needs polishing. It's not a physical component needing to be polished.

We don't need to stress too much about what sorts of ceramics or exotic materials are used in the initial engine. If the WS-10 and all its children are any indication, the first WS-15 variant will be the patriarch of a very large family.

I expect WS-15 to be atleast F-135 level tech in F-119's form factor. Even the F-135 is an old engine considering its from the early 2010s.

That’s a good way to put it. F-135 has different bypass ratio than F-119 and emphasizes different flight parameter, but it is definitely more advanced.

Also keep in mind that engines like WS-10 are not stagnating either. According to a recent podcast by Yankeesama even different batches of Taihang used for J-16 can have magnitudes of difference in terms of MTBO and lifespan.
