C919 faced many hurdles during design phase. detailed design completed in 2012. back then China was a technological backward society despite being the world largest manufacturer. testing infrastructure was inadequate. initially plan was composite wing but due to complexity they decided to go with traditional aluminum material. The hurdle is C919 itself, as the first of its class(domestic), it’s a pretty fucking conservative design, it’s on par with 320CEO/737-800 at this moment, of course we can improve it like airbus and boeing does to their aircraft, but comparable with western products is not enough for us , we are the new player.
I think we should just manufacture like 1000 919s as fast as possible and end the project, replace it with a true game changer with some aggressive design like BWB/hybrid, this model will not win global market share for us.
WS-35 has announced. no specific details but most likely a 25-35 tons class category machine.Any chance the CJ-2000A might see military derivatives?
To be fair, they have their hands full expanding production. They should be funding an upgrade program with composite wings and higher bypass engines.
Will happen eventually. C919 should be seen as another step in the industrial learning process rather than a fully competitive product. They should be funding an upgrade program with composite wings and higher bypass engines.
