maybe you must reread this topics from the beginning, and make difference between ws 10, ws 10a, ws 10b, etc.

That was true back in 2007. Thats why the very 1st batch of the J-11B was grounded and replaced with scavenged AL-31F. MTBO was said to be 30 - 50 hrs. But by late 2009 that had been improved to 300 - 500 hrs with the WS-10 going through some modification including reducing thrust from 132kN to 125kN. The WS-10 has gradually gone through improvement since then in-terms of reliability and thats why they are confident enough to test them on at least 2 PLAAF single-engined J-10B (#0154 & #0155). And according the the rumors WS-10B in the 2x J-10B are rated at least 132kN. Recently a 140kN WS-10 version was certified targeted for the J-11D.

If the MTBO was still 30 hrs, the PLAN would in noway risk accepting the J-11BH/BSH into service. Even the PLAAF wouldn't accept any J-11B/J-16. Risk is way to high. So that article is simply way out of date.

I wrote in that entry the standard that an engine needs to reach before getting certain level of certification. I'm not saying bloomberg is a bad source, but that piece of info on WS-10 is definitely inaccurate.

The so called expert turn out to be Bietzinger Well he is no expert. He is academician with Singapore institute associated with NUS. He give commentary on China related thing But he is China basher for sure.

I don't know this Singapore university. In order to gain reputation and standing they always hire liberal art graduate or Phd in international relation who doesn't have clue about engineering. Their knowledge come from reading other expert or newspaper. It self regurgitating old news

Well, it shows how good/bad the "experts" are? ... the "expers" were outdated by at least 10 years .... and a lot lot has happened in Chinese technological advancement in 10 years ...

..... so don't bother :p

I'm more curious why kroko, a senior member of SDF who has obviously been around for quite some time now, still manages to ask such a question. I thought there have been numerous discussions and news around WS-10 and its variants in the forum.

No disrespect meant, just very curious.

Let's not open this can of worms again since there are many competent, well respected liberal arts graduates on SDF who are significant contributors to the technical discussions.
