What happens if one country in RCEP won't ratify it in parliament? The deal goes into effect in all countries but that one or it needs to be renegotiated?
I doubt Australia will ratify it. Tensions are too big.
It would be an India situation I imagine. They can rejoin at a later time without getting approval from all the countries due to the special "founder" rule.

They can choose not to ratify it and enjoy a lost decade or two; all it comes down to is whether or not australian billionaires are prepared to sacrifice themselves for white anglo supremacy.

Ratification will take effect 60 days after it has been ratified by at least six ASEAN and three non-ASEAN signatories

@Bob Smith
Here read this new article, it’s probably the best I’ve read so far on the Indian economy.

It’s basically describes what not to do when governing an 1 billion+ overpopulated nation

India has lots of bright n talented people, sadly they fell to Western propaganda and compliments.

India chose the shortcut route of developing service sector first, esp software outsourcing. That directly goes against time tested successful formula adopted by Japan, Korea, Singapore and China ; developing manufacturing industries.

IMO It won't be much, considering the population of Australia is only 25million. And most of their product is natural resources, which is abundance in ASEAN countries. If Australia's parliament won't ratify it, they are the one losing while ASEAN countries will smile. I don't think the oz parliament will be that stupid. Not only that, rising unemployment maybe the next thing coming to them. They will have more headache if workers going down the street complaining the government for destroying 30 years of business relationship. All just because the politicians are too busy serving their masters in US and England, but not to serve the Australian people.

Maybe, scomo will be the one in hot seat. FYI, Australia has 7 PMs in just 12 years.

My speculations tho.

Shipping container rates are rising across Asia. Queues of ships trying to unload in China because of prolonged inspection on reefers isn't helping, while ship congestion is happening in US ports.

Hi TAM,

Will this cause inflation in China? and may affect the economic recovery? I know the Chinese don't celebrate Christmas but it must stock now for the coming Chinese new year.
