Idk I just don’t want China to fail because of white worship and seeking white approval. Never try to be an Indian.

The spokesperson/pr person doesn't make policy, they just need to package stuff digestible to a big audience and run circles around the media.

The more China protects farmers, the slower the progress.

Farming needs to be transformed into a high tech sector instead of for pure employment like currently in India and China.

US uses <1% labor force in agriculture while China still uses over 20%.

Also, I believe in Chinese ingenuity and efficiency. I think China will come out with a stronger agricultural sector if tariffs are removed to promote high tech agriculture. The freed labor force can be used for retail and other sectors.

We must believe in ourselves. I can imagine China making 50 story vertical farms for plants and livestock.

Swine fever hit China hard because most of the pig farms are small scale and low-tech. They lacked competition from the West. The butchers and many other low skilled laborers relied on those farmers. This failure resulted in millions of jobs lost. Many in my own extended family.

NZ has one of the best agriculture universities in the Pacific that I know of and attracts a high proportion of chinese students. At one point it was well over a third.

I believe CCP is planning this transition eventually, in China' there's demand for all agriculture, high tech and low tech, so many people who wants to eat well. I'm guessing the only thing holding CCP back is they are not confident in the farmers finding new jobs.

Everything takes time especially when were talking about a country as huge as China. Don't look at the figures in isolation but rather look at the trend. In 2009 Agriculture was 38% and now its 25% (1-1.5% drop p.a) . A 13% drop in just 10 yrs is a remarkable feat.
In another 15- 20 years or so we can expect those numbers to be in single digits.

Well, CCP obviously doesn’t agree with you.

I've mentioned that I work in high tech Agri and have many contacts in China as well. Also visited the farms recently.

You go around and look at the pig farms in China and you see most of these farmers are hopeless in the face of epidemics. Their only go to is to pump their animals up with antibiotics and hormones. Which of course doesn't work against viruses.

I've even see a few cases of sabotage of bad actors leaving dead, infected pigs near surviving farms, killing more pigs.

The high tech, large scale pig farms are the only ones surviving. They have full quarantine of their pigs.

They even got facial recognition to ID their pigs lol.
