Industrial profits continued their rapid recovery for the second month in a row, with profits up 21.6% YOY in September (in August they were up 20.4% YOY). That boosted profit growth up to 3.2% YTD (from 0.9% YTD in August).

Interesting. China is becoming the top producer of many "high end" raw foods mostly found on non-Chinese menus: 44% of the global caviar market, foie gras and truffle both close to 30%. Additionally, the Heilongjiang province alone produces the most cranberries in Asia. Inner Mongolia and Jilin have built tens of Wagyu cattle farms.

China is so large and covers so many latitudes that certain foods, which some nations view as unique to their own national narrative of "身土不二" (body and land are one) formed during industrialization, can actually be reproduced here.

FDI from neighboring country soared 55.5% in Jan-Sept despite global woes

Japan's surging investments in China over the first three quarters of 2025 highlight resilient economic ties between the two manufacturing powerhouses at a time of growing protectionism and global supply chain bottlenecks, analysts said.

China attracted 573.75 billion yuan ($80.68 billion) in foreign direct investment between January and September, with inflows from Japan soaring 55.5 percent year-on-year, data from the Ministry of Commerce showed.

Significant reduction of local government's debt: a 62% drop since early 2023.

China has slashed the number of its local government financing vehicles (LGFVs) by 71% and cut their business-related financial debt by 62% since early 2023, the country’s central bank governor said — marking a significant milestone in Beijing’s campaign to defuse one of the greatest threats to its economy.
