priorities misplaced? let's see how ordinary people lost their livelihoods overnight.

after school teaching and learning has been part of education in China for a long time, millions of ppl make their living on it. then the government outlaws it over night.
You sound like you lost out your living in China eh, English expat teacher. That sucks bruh.

This comment alone speaks volume of how little you know about China and it's actual governance other than what you project it to be. Plus, your comment on private tutoring and the exorbitant costs behind such practice has not been part and parcel of China's LONG history. That trend was new and became a pervasive practice when the economy of the country took off like it's never been seen or done before on any other country known to man and that includes the country you are residing right now.

Exactly, priorities misplaced. Industries should be sustained only if they benefit society, and the people working in those industries earn a living because of their benefit to society. That is the correct order. Never flip it around and make an industry about the people who make money off of it putting its effect on society secondary. The extracurricular teaching culture in China has gotten to be corrupt and damaging to true educational pursuit and even more importantly, family planning, therefore, it has to be dismantled. Those who worked in it can take the corrupt money they unfortunately earned and move to a different field, one that benefits China. Life is all about evolution and adaptation; anyone who cannot will be left behind.

The government is implicit in all property market manipulations. it claims the lions share, up to 70% of the revenue. now it's the developers served as the scapegoat. and you keep using words like: confiscation, jail, and execution, you must be a real fan of Stalin!
I love how you dodge his answers like how you change the goal post.

"When the government was trying to stop over-leveraging, the company turned towards other "ways" to get money, off-the-books. When the government was trying to stop over-leverage, he was pushing for far.more debt than his company could handle"

You want to actually talk about this part where the scum keeps fucking up or no?

My friend here rather let the tumor grow and potentially ruin a lot more lives than cut it out now and suffer some pain. Thank god the government is actually competent. The dude wants another 2008 crisis.
In the West, during the 2008 crisis, the rich and the bankers hit the jackpot. No consequences, all profits.

The rich people in China, probably thought that they would do the same in China with the Evergrade thing (and in the future)

Joke on them though, the CPC has sent the message loud and clear. If the rich want to excessively gamble and create systemic ricks, and then crash the economy, they will all go to jail (minimum punishment), and the instigators will get executed

Not all billionaires are bad. Many made their money the honest way and made meaningful contributions to society. Yes target the corrupt, but keep the incentives alive for the entrepreneurs and innovators.
The problem with Chinese billionaire is they lack compassion and sense of responsibility toward their fellow citizen and countrymen Contrast that to the experience of Overseas Chinese billionaire almost all of them have foundation to grant needy family scholarship. In the old days they build street, bridges, school, hospital, house of worship And they don't discriminate. Listen to the story of Tjong Yong Hian who single handedly built city of Medan and the first railway in southern china from swatow to chaochow not sure

he is remembered both in China and overseas recently the city of Mei Shan converted his old home into museum as a sign of respect and affection

Absolutely love the tears of those English "teachers", most of them are bottom feeders who go to poorer countries with an intent to exploit the local population.
