Chinese Economics Thread

Despite having "modern" economies, Europe is heavily dependent on exports in order to maintain the living standard they're use to. The 2008 Western Financial Crisis exposed they were in deep doo-doo because their exports weren't enough that they had to borrow money also and people protested because they didn't want to sacrifice one bit of their social programs that supplemented their lifestyles. That means Europe has to sell more than ever. So of course the Europeans are scared of Chinese self-sufficiency because that means less money they make from their exports that they're highly dependent on. They already were banning selling technology to China obeying the US that would have the same effect so why didn't they notice that? Because the Europeans like the Americans also believe Chinese couldn't do anything without them aka they believed Chinese were intellectually inferior. They thought China would be in a tailspin and Chinese would be begging to do anything for them where the West could demand and get anything they want from China and now even get more concessions that was going to get them more money than ever from China. They were salivating like after the Opium Wars at carving up China for themselves like a pie. France upset at the US, Great Britain, and Australia is an example of how smaller the Western pie they have now has gotten. More internal bickering to come because the US is closing off the West to other markets because of their demands. And no one should feel sympathy for the Europeans because they chose to go along knowing full well what they were doing.

This is also another example of why China is naïve when it comes to propaganda. Do you see anything from the Europeans admitting how Chinese self-sufficiency hurts Europe when they'll be hit by it the most? While Beijing thinks expressing how US/Western actions against China will hurt everyone involved hoping there's kumbaya moment where they won't do it, the Europeans like Americans only talk about how it hurts China not anyone else. China should be doing the opposite of what they're doing now and taunt and laugh at how the US and the West are shooting themselves in the foot. No one especially the US and their allies are going to see China being reasonable and having common sense and thus get rewarded.
We should be glad a media is being less biased.

I agree with your analysis. But the prescription is antithesis to "Chinese". The history, the culture, the morality, the social norms, the people. That said, I totally agree that the Chinese need to improve their "communication" skills:cool:

That's why I bring it up. The Chinese way has gotten China nothing. China hasn't been in this situation since the darkest days of the Cold War so I'd say whatever Chinese think is working hasn't worked.

What china is dealing with today is what the anglosphere internet calls 'weaponised autism' ie bullying harassment akin to white kids at school bullying and harassing Asian kids. You saw this every time Pompeo and ASPI gleefully bullied and targeted Chinese, making sure to use the term 'Chinese communist party' as code for saying "chink" in the greater american consciousness.

The only response to such 'weaponised autism', short of violence is twofold, one of which the CPC has excelled in as recently as this year:

1) Targeting their $$$$; as China did when sanctioning Pompeo, Navarro et al such that no-one who wants to be a relevant multinational company will ever hire them or their family.

2) Counter weaponised autism ie counter-harassment: loudly mocking and humiliating these individuals with memes at their expense, WuHeQiLin is a great example but his audience is a domestic audience; what i'd like to see is a scorched earth type, no holds barred mocking of americans on reddit, twitter etc; Duke of Qin on Twitter is a great example, loudly mocking white supremacist americans over the Blacking of their beloved white america is a great point, or that their generation are Incels where their own women would rather whore themsleves out to OnlyFans than marry and have children with them.
That sort of weaponised autism.

The key to weaponised autism is to let your target know that You are taking glee and enjoying their pain, that you are enjoying the Schadenfreude and there's nothing they can do about it.

What China needs are resources and technology. The West is not selling China technology, and higher production in China drives up prices of commodities, so what exactly is the point of China producing more for exports?
From another point of view, Chinese entrepreneurship is high at this moment. People tend to invest (produce more). Just like other's economy cycle, boom and bust.
It is the duration of the cycle matters. The shorter, the more competitive.

This article is behind a paywall, but do you think that evergrande´s problems could spread to the rest of china´s real estate sector? Why is the sector in such a bubble?
