For Jilin and indeed other parts of China to become a hi-tech hubs domestically and internationally, some experts say US technology has a significant role to play.

“American technologies are indispensable for all Chinese hi-tech products sold in both the domestic market and overseas markets. Huawei is the most innovative Chinese company. The fall and rise of Huawei’s mobile phone sector is unambiguous evidence of how dependent the Chinese hi-tech industry is on American technologies,” said Xing Yuqing, an economics professor with the National Graduate Institute for Policy Studies in Tokyo.

I don't rule out other investment from the US companies. However, the US high-tech companies could not invest in China anymore. And the US technology would slowly be replaced.

This professor looks at a picture taken at a single point in time, but has not or dares not put the effort in looking at the story made of many shifting pictures. Huawei may have depended on American technology on its phones but the images show a quick rise in Chinese domestic technology to fill America's void and Huawei being actively involved.

That professor does not know what they are talking about.

Here are the tear downs of Huawei gear, phone and base station.

That is the future.

The biggest economy in the world in 10 years time will not want American parts.

Slowly the American tech is being eradicated from the China market, and people think that is a great thing!

I agree.

Lol good luck with revitalizing the North East. Even the SAC has opened a separate headquarter in Yangzhou, Jiangsu. If even the state owned corporations are fleeing, I don’t see how you could stem the flow.
I've often wondered why China can't boost tourism to the north east, Can't they promote saunas like in finland or aren't there hot springs like in Japan?
Assuming all the heavy metals from the heavy industry have been properly cleared from the sites that is.

Professor should offer more specifics (though the article itself is bad)
