An x-ray showing a 30cm long kitchen spatula stuck down a Chinese woman's woman's throat in Dongguan city. The woman was almost killed when she tried to clear her throat by forcing the handle of a 30-cm long kitchen spatula down it. She was cooking in her kitchen when she suddenly felt ill and gasped for breath. She first tried her fingers and then chopsticks to clear her throat and finally forced the handle of the spatula down. Her daughter, aged four, took her downstairs for help as she struggled to breathe. The woman, 31, was treated at the Kanghua Hospital in Dongguan. Doctors have carried out two operations on the woman and medics said they could find no blockage that may have led to her struggling for breath. She is recovering and will be discharged from hospital in two weeks.
