And this is where nearly 80 workers from the China Railway Major Bridge Engineering Group work day and night. They shuttle on the "catwalks" on both sides connecting the north and south bank. Their main tasks include completing the main cable and the bridge deck, the pier body and the box girder, so that a beautiful "ladder" spreads over the Yangtze River.

Upon completion, it will be the world's largest double-deck suspension bridge.
Blast at chemical plant in Sichuan, China kills 19, injures 12
Authorities have detained "several" suspects in wake of an explosion at a chemical plant in southwest China that left 19 dead and injured 12 others, state media said.
The blast occurred at 6:30 pm (1030 GMT) Thursday at an industrial park in Sichuan province's Yibin city, according to a statement on the website of the local work safety administration.
Photos on a local news website showed what appeared to be the burned out shell of a building surrounded by rubble.
The building was owned by chemical manufacturer Hengda, which was "conducting illegal construction at the plant which had not passed safety and fire control checks", the official Xinhua news agency said late Friday, citing local authorities.
The Ministry of Emergency Management has sent a team to further investigate the cause of the explosion, the agency added.

A new exhibition at the Eslite Bookstore in the Eastern Chinese city of Suzhou, Jiangsu province, is bringing alive scenes in the fantasy novella via origami art.
Chinese artist Liu Tong's latest solo exhibition, Reviving the Inner Child, features origami artworks inspired by the fairytale book, ushering visitors into a colorful world full of imagination. A room decorated with 6,700 origami roses is one highlight of the show.

Mengmeng, a post-90s sound mixer, does not agree that anyone can become a professional singer as long as they have a good sound mixer. "I have never met someone whose bad voice can be turned perfect when they are singing," she said. "Although in post production, we can absolutely do that."
After graduating from Beijing Film Academy in film recording major, Mengmeng works in a recording studio in Beijing. Famous artists such as Sun Li and Deng Chao couple, He Jie, Hu Xia, and Xian Zi (Stringer) all record their works in the studio.
Being a sound mixer means one needs to stay up late, since the vocal cords of singers perform better after noon. Mengmeng usually starts work at 1 or 2 pm, and works all the way until the early hours.

Pan Yunsheng, a veteran, used to train army dogs years ago at a field force in Southwest China's Guangxi autonomous region. When his love for dog training did not fade away after retirement, Pan opened a dog boarding and training center in the suburb of Beijing six years ago.
Pan has trained hundreds of dogs in the past years. Now, around 50 pet dogs live in Pan's training center, with some of them boarding temporarily, while others training hard for a graduation certificate.
"Our center is like a kindergarten for dogs," said Pan. He treats them like his children by providing them air-conditioning in summer and heating in winter, with electricity bill each month reaching 8,000 yuan ($1,195) in winter. Pan's training center posts revenue of about two million yuan a year, and he harvests a big hunk of love at the same time.

Emerging sector attracts developers, but growth sparks addiction concerns
As the younger generation's purchasing power increases in China, more and more gamers are splashing their cash online, especially in the emerging mobile gaming sector.
Seeing the new trend, a growing number of developers are already introducing games targeting the younger generation, and many have been reaping the benefits.
Tencent Holdings Ltd's popular mobile role-playing game King of Glory defeated all other iOS apps in China to take the top spot in income generation in May this year, according to mobile analytics company App Annie.
The rise has been fueled primarily by millennials and those born after 1990. A report by Chinese mobile data intelligence firm Jiguang showed that more than two-thirds of the game's players are younger than 29.
