Located in the natural reserve of the Wuyi Mountain, Tongmu is a remote village with an elevation of nearly a thousand meters. Thanks to the abundant vegetation resources, local villagers began to produce black tea in recent years. 55-year-old Jiang Yuanxun is a native tea grower in the village. He has developed a business model and attracts more and more people in the production of black tea. In 2017, the annual per capita income of the village reached 20,810 yuan (about 3,311 US dollars). Cai Yujun, 53, rides a motorcycle with his mother, 92, and also delivers goods in Chengdu City, capital of Southwest China's Sichuan Province. Cui and his two brothers take turns looking after their mother, who got Alzheimer's disease seven years ago and can't now live by herself. Cui said his mother labored her whole life to support the family and helped him raise his kids back in their hometown of Suining City. Cui also said the elderly care center can't provide 24-hour service, so he brings her with him wherever he goes. The mother and son have visited almost every corner of the city in the past several years. Sometimes he took his mother to high-end office buildings to the surprise of some, but Cui said he now cares little what others think. Cui has made a special seat with a wooden board and foam along with safety belts to help his mother feel easy while riding. (Photo/VCG)

China's largest freshwater lake - Poyang Lake in Jiangxi province - is fast drying-up and might soon become a prairie or a desert due to drought. Chinese scientists are reporting with alarm that more parts of Poyang Lake have dried up leaving huge swathes of grassland in areas once inundated by up to 25 meters of water. That depth has been reduced on average to only eight meters and even this level is in danger since water levels have fallen continuously. [Photo/IC]

Wang Zhijue and her three cats in Shanghai, April 12, 2018. [Photo/VCG]

Wang Zhijue, a post-1990 generation in Shanghai, liked cats when she was a little girl, but she never thought that one day she would start a business about pets.

Wang, with a major in media, thought she would set up her own social media platform about pets. However, after securing financing via the Venture Valley of Tongji University, Wang quit her job and put her heart into the startup. On investors' advice, Wang picked up three cats, rented a house and started a company.

Wang and her former colleague Mingzhu now run a shop on China's biggest online shopping platform Taobao, selling cat food and related products.

Everyday their job revolves around three cats: playing with cats, taking photos or videos of them and then putting them online to attract more fans. They run their own accounts on social network sites, including WeChat and Sina Weibo, and have nearly 500,000 fans and followers.
