Hello all,
I know that this is forum about modern Chinese navy but I would like, if it is possible, to ask about beginings of the PLAN. As most of you may know on 19.V.1948 UK sold cruiser Aurora to Kuomintang which renamed the cruiser Chungking. As far as I know on 25.II.1949 crew of the ship revolted and Chungking abducted to communists. And here's the first question: is it true that ship was renamed Tchoung King. Some Western sources claimes so, though I do not think that this is true, since this is only different pronunciation of the same city. Anyway on 19.III.1949 Chungking [or Tchoung King] was sunk in Taku harbour by US bombers. Here's comes second question: when cruiser was raised?! As far as I know it was raised with help of Soviet specialist in 1951. Later renamed Hsuang Ho [date?!], Pei Ching or Bejing [date?!] and finally Kuang Chou[?!] again date is unknown. I do not know also the date of scrapping and whether cruiser was operational after it was raised. Any help would be appreciated
Cruiser after it was raised
