The first near-space long-range cruise missile has completed its initial "approval" tests. Also mentioned are a new air-to-surface anti-radiation missile as well as the YJ-12.

I wonder if the near-space CM is in any way related to or a development of the shipborne anti-ship ballistic missile that was revealed a year ago.
Can you elaborate on this shipborne missile? I wonder if I missed something.

Supposed to be a VLS-launched ASBM with multiple pull-up maneuvers programmed into the terminal phase. The alleged range is 1000 km and the system is thought to be in development for the Type 055 DDG.

Ok, I see. The missile in the ppt slide was named "near space hyper-sonic anti-ship missile" in Chinese, which did not say "ballistic". That is why your previous post made me wonder.

As to your question of "how does it fly at near space altitude". It could be just a glider without engine boosted to the edge of atmosphere. The main (longest) pull-up manoeuvre is a typical skip trajectory, even the last one near the target does not necessarily need engine, lifting body with a control surface should be capable to do so. Manoeuvre is doable so long as the aircraft has enough lift and speed, the aircraft is supposed to be at high Mach number even at the terminal stage.

Question regarding the DF-100. Is that a fin or could it be Ramjet intake? A bit like -

To me that feature looks more like a fin and the rear of the missile part seems to have YJ-12 style ramjet intakes (but shorter), two of which are visible.

An extremely interesting missile, but I have a feeling it'll be a long time before we get more information about it.
