There is no such thing as C-803. C-802 series is pretty much equivalent to YJ-83 series I guess, although not exactly the same.

I do think there is supersonic AShm in development somewhere, but I haven't seen any deployment (as YJ-12 or anything else).

I have googled YJ 83 to read more about program. I found link on PDF and you were saying the exact same thing. However this was slightly after posting.

I thought I typed in yj 83 instead of C 803, I should have checked post then quickly edited my post:eek:.

Anyway I was wondering if it was deployed and if info posted on wikipedia was accurate that it had sub sonic cruising phase then a terminal supersonic phase.

there is actually no conclusive evidence that YJ-83 has a terminal supersonic phase, so I really don't know. If we look at similar missiles like MM-40 and Harpoon, then it's probably purely subsonic.

CJ-10 definitely shows at least superficial similarities with a long range cruise missile (3000-3800km) the USSR deployed in small numbers in the late 80's: the S-10 Granat (What a coincidence!:D) NATO code name SSC-4 Slingshot. (The system was only in test service as the 1987 INF treaty came into effect and the already deployed missiles/launchers were demilitarized.)

Unfortunately the pictures are of bad quality (but nevertheless thanks to tphuang!) so comparing the CJ-10 missile body with S-10's 3M12 is not quite possible but they indeed appear to be roughly of the same shape and dimensions.

Of course it would be far too early to speculate about technology transfer by Russia since similar requirements often create similar solutions but this thing appears to be quite curious.

what's the difference between df-31 and 31A? and how can you tell from their appearance anyways

DF-31‘s range designed is 8000KM, in fact,longest range is more 10,000KM.
DF-31A's range disigned is 10,600KM, that's a improved-mode missile based on DF-31, also named jia-mode far rangemisile.(甲型增程弹) longest range is no considered now.

where did you get those numbers? acording to DoD 2008 report, df-31´s range is 7200+ km, and df31a´s is 11200+ km

第二炮兵副司令员、阅兵联合指挥部副总指挥于际训中将二十七日接受中新社访问时表示,随着科技进步,中国战略导弹部队武器系统从过去单一制导方式发展为多种制导方式并存,尤其是首次亮相的陆基巡航导弹,能够多发连射、低空飞行、隐蔽突防、精确制导,是实施中远程精确打击的一把利剑,标志着中国战略导弹部队实现了“精确打击、精准点穴”的精度跃升,打击样式和作战能力实现新的突破。

这 次展示的巡航导弹是基于复合制导方式的巡航导弹,也就是有“中国战斧”美誉的新型武器系统。众所周知,美国的“战斧”导弹是世界上最成功的陆基巡航式导 弹,它的广泛应用已经使得美军的常规远程打击能力提到了一个很高的阶段。“中国战斧”正是在这样一个背景下艰难的诞生的,从美国的战斧来看,其经历了制导 系统的变迁,从最早的惯性制导加地形匹配制导方式,到如今的惯性制导加GPS制导方式,也是一个巨大的性能飞跃,毕竟地形匹配制导方式十分的繁琐,需要准 备时间长,巡航速度低,路线固定易于被拦截,正是这一切问题所在导致了更新的制导方式的替代。另外,从用途来讲,美国战斧也是经历了从核武器载具到常规武 器载具的转变,从陆基使用逐渐海基为主的转变。因此,战斧的发展道路和技术路线也是美国综合技术发展史的一次写真。中国战斧自然也是如此,从研制之初就是 高起点、多用途的考虑,从设计思想上讲,立足陆基,多发连射,低空飞行、隐蔽突防、精确制导等基本战术指标。但从威慑力提高的角度上讲, 相信中国巡航导弹下一步发展目标有三个:一是大力发展“北斗卫星导航系统”提升复合制导能力;二是提升导弹射程和复合制导技术性能,增加超远程精确打击能 力;三是增加武器发射平台,从单一的陆基发射平台,逐步开发“潜基”、“海基”、“空基”三种不同型号的新型巡航导弹,形成二炮巡航导弹自身体系“三位一 体”战略战术打击能力,大大提升二炮“核常兼备”的作战能力。
但考虑到中国军队的体制现状,“潜基”、“海基”、“空基”三种不同型号的新型巡航导弹将不归属于二炮指挥,这对于尽快形成战斗力和发展联合打击能力还是有一定制约的。
