China's Westward One Belt One Road Strategy

Perhaps it is better for some elite Americans to give up their "liberal global order" dream instead and focus on rebuilding after decades of neglect and being hijacked by special interests groups that had ignored the middle class and working class both at home and abroad with this mantra of one size value fits all.
Can't be done. These special interest groups own US politics.

We're not talking about weeks but indeed decades. The areas along the Mississippi and its contributories, around the great Lakes and along the St Lawrence are well populated and the same is likely to happen along the Ob, Lena and other great rivers.

In such a scenario over the decades where shipping in Northern Russia is possible, the Ob and Lena would be more populated, but look at the map.

The Great Lakes and St Lawrence river lie at the latitudes of lands which encompass Kazakhstan, Mongolia and Dongbei. And the equivalent of the St Lawrence is the Amur river in China and South Eastern Russia.

The Mississippi watershed shares the same latitudes as mainland China.

In comparison, the Ob and Lena mostly lie much further in the inhospitable North along the same latitudes as Alaska. Yet we see that Alaska hasn't become very populated, despite having year round access to seaborne shipping.

The rivers lie at the latitude of Sweden! And we're talking about a warmer World.

Sweden has the moderating influence of the Baltic Sea on the climate.
Also note how Sweden doesn't really have much in the way of permafrost, yet Sweden's population density is pretty low.

But in any case, it's all academic discussion as we'd need a few decades for warmer to occur, then more decades for Siberia to be colonised.

And where are the settlers going to come from?

Remember Russia is slowly declining in population, and that population is leaving Siberia for European Russia. Plus no one else is going to be colonising Siberia whilst Russia still has its nuclear arsenal.

Anyone still dreaming of including India into OBOR should watch this video. Relation can only established between 2 self confidence nation. If one of them still nurturing grudge or suspicion on the motive of the other then there will be no relation. Another thing too hang up on 1 dimension issue missed the larger picture. I say good riddance

Pakistan has the potential to outpace India by large margins. Like the West, India sees certain parts of the world as lost causes. That's why the West never had a plan to develop in places like Africa. Ever since China got involved with a mutual economic business strategy versus the West's aid dependency plan, those parts of Africa are showing economic growth never seen and believed possible under Western stewardship. The same beliefs they've had of Central Asia as well. But they're alarmed now. Central Asia is furthest from the US's mind literally and figuratively when it comes to business economics. If India had the economic power, they would've done something in their favor already. Since they haven't been able to in their own backyard, it tells you how limited their power is which is why they're afraid of this economic corridor between China and Pakistan. Concern over Chinese expansionism and hegemony are covers for... they're simply not the ones in control. Ironic how the people who claim to be more open-minded are the hardest pessimists.
