An update on the Hainan Commercial Spaceport. The kerosene storage and fueling system has been installed. With this, the entire propellant storage and fueling infrastructure of the spaceport has been completed, and it will now undergo a debugging phase.

, CASC has decided to re-organize its efforts in the commercial launch market by bolstering the R&D and production capabilities of the China Rocket Corporation, its existing commercial launch subsidiary.

CASC will now shift all personnel related to commercial launch services to the China Rocket Corp, which will effectively acquire independent R&D and production capabilities to better compete with new private launch startups. This reorganization is being done in response to the expected fierce competition in the next three to five years.

The press release also mentioned that Jielong-4 will have its maiden launch this year.

"The full liberalization of the aerospace market is an opportunity and a challenge for us." Tang Moyang, director of the strategy department of the China Rocket Company. "The cake has become bigger, but there are also more people who are sharing the cake."

"The quoted launch prices from private launch companies can be 20% lower than ours... There are two reasons behind this: At this stage, everyone pays more attention to gaining marketshare than "making money"; the second reason is that private enterprise are more thorough in cost control..."

"In the past few years, China Rocket Corporation has been committed to introducing the market mechanism into the design, production, launch and other links of rockets to control costs and delivery cycles. But in order to truly improve market competitiveness, we may need to make deeper changes in the system and mechanism."

First set of global images sent back by Fengyun-3 06 (FY-3-06) that was launched back on August 3rd. All systems are operating normally. The 2nd image was taken by the onboard microwave imager, and the 3rd image was taken by the ultraviolet hyperspectral imager used for ozone monitoring.

4月8日,中国气象局组织召开风云三号F星(以下简称“F星”)在轨测试(第一阶段)总结评审会。专家组一致同意该星通过在轨测试第一阶段总结评审,具备在轨交付和投入业务试运行条件。副局长曹晓钟出席。

总结评审意见显示,卫星平台的轨道、姿态、数传信道、星上记录存储与回放等性能稳定可靠;紫外高光谱臭氧探测仪-天底、紫外高光谱臭氧探测仪-临边等10个遥感仪器在轨运行稳定可靠,卫星遥感数据定量化水平有显著提升,以上两方面测试项目的各项功能性指标均满足使用要求。

On April 8, China Meteorological Administration organized an expert review of the Fengyun-3-F satellite. The expert panel unanimously agreed that the satellite has met the conditions for commercial trial operations.

Review of the performance data shows that the orbital control, communications, data storage and playback, as well 10 onboard instruments (including the ultraviolet hyperspectral ozone detector) have all performed reliably, and therefore the satellite is ready for commercial trial operations.

Oh I also forgot to add that the next telescope down select decision will be done at the next five years plan. All three telescope are HABEX equivalents. The above design is a theoretical concept which are dime a dozen whereas the exoplanet search telescope are more mature in their design and much further along in telescope design. Work on those telescope will begin depending on which proposal wins the competition for funding.

Queqiao-2 satellite, which will rely communication from the far side of the moon, is now ready for service.
Queqiao-2 completed on-orbit communication testing in recent days, the China National Space Administration (CNSA) announced April 12.

The spacecraft conducted successful communication tests with Chang’e-4 mission spacecraft on the far side of the moon April 6. This was followed by a test April 8-9 Beijing time with the Chang’e-6 spacecraft back on Earth, which is yet to launch.
