The first Shenzhou spacecraft was launched into orbit 22 years ago today. Shenzhou-1 was an unmanned mission to verify and validate the spacecraft, among other systems.

Indian reusable launch vehicle proposal:

Besides looking very much like a Tengyun space plane, isn't that engine just a Chinese TRRE engine?

Are there any other TRRE engine projects going around outside of China?
Remarkably similar. But China doesn't need to turn its head. The Indian program for this decade ( till 2030) won't even have a mars landing program. Besides the Human spaceflight attempt ( by 2024 or 2025 if all things go well) and a moon lander reattempt ( maybe with Japan ? ), there isn't much happening this decade for India.

Also to note is India's attempts to break into and stay in the double digit launch rate. India has not launched more than 10 an year till now. Anyway, what i could understand from Indian defense forum is that there are multiple constraints ( funding being a big one).

India intends to do all things China does. There is a strong 'also me' tendency. But still, China has an almost two decade lead ( in first human spaceflight ). The resources to be thrown at the TSTO project may be too much for India ( the engineering challenges are another) of this decade. There is a chance that a small demonstrator with some key technologies be tested.

GF-11 serie sat has propelled China into the select club of countries that can acquire NIIRS 8-9 satellite imagery. Will be interesting to see how many they will launch...

what other countries into the club of NIIRS 8-9 satellite imagery apart from the USA and China ?

Israel. The Ofek series of Spy satellites are very good and improving with every new launch.
France has the Composante Spatiale Optique with resolution less than 35cm.
Japan has the IGS series ( latest being IGS optical 7) with published less than 40cm resolution.

(Knew about the Israeli one. Had to look up JP one).
I had posted an year ago in another thread about a "gossip" that Israel has transferred some technologies of Ofek (older ones) to India.
