update on my post I add the documentary do watch it is very informative

Just finish watching CCTV documentary on Beidou. The development started in 1980's lead by Chen Fangyun But China does not have money and there is no funding. So it got nowhere until the Gulf war and China see how effective the GPS homing guided missile can be . Suddenly there is urgency in developing the GPS But need to develop the technology starting with 2 satellite constellation during 2000-2003. 3 satellite was launched and they experiment. The development was lead by Sun Jiadong the designer for Dongfanghung China's first satellite and the right handman of Chen Xuesen. Navigational satellite was based on having an accurate atomic clock China has to import those clock. It is very complicated piece of equipment and only 2 or 3 country can built them(sound familiar)

But the western power suddenly realized that China can built GPS system(sound familiar) and instituted embargo on atomic clock. with the hope of killing any Chinese effort to build GPS system.
Even worse 80% of the frequencies was monopolize by US and Russia and only 20% left But United Nation convene a conference in 2005 and decide to award the rest of the frequency on first come first serve basis. But the catch is the offer expired on 2007. And China have to have functioning GPS system to claim that frequency

So China has only 2 years to developed and send the first signal from space before 2007 an impossible task as Beidou II just start design phase.
But with herculean effort they manage to send Beidou II in space and receive the signal just 4 hour before the deadline lapses

So the moral of the story is nothing is impossible and with the support of the nation it can be achieved. The same with EUV and semi production line China has been there before and overcome the challenge. The list of western road block or tripping is endless and each one china beat them!

Here is the documentary please do watch it is very informative synopsis

In 1990, the world was stunned to witness its first “space war”. Americans called their triumph in the Gulf War a “victory of GPS.” The critical role played by the satellite-based global positioning system in the war highlighted how modern wars would be fought. From that point on, China determined to build its own navigation satellite system independently. But scientists at the time faced limited funds, low manufacturing capacity, and inability to produce key components and parts. How did BeiDou make it through that difficult path? Episode 2 looks back at those 26 years, and how Chinese scientists accomplished a mission impossible.
