They know enough the Europeans are willing to tie their Martian landers to Russian tech. We are getting OT for Chinese space programs though.

A lander that is not proven. Russia hasn't been able to orbit the moon since fall of USSR. They can't even send a probe to orbit moon let alone Mars. I'll believe it when I see they land on Mars.

All countries suffer humiliation after defeat. Germany lost land in WW1 and WW2. Austria lost land in WW1. Turkey lost land in WW1. Japan lost land in WW2. Spain lost land to US and Britain. Russia lost land to Japan. China lost land to Britain and Japan. Russia lost land after losing Cold War. Turkey had to suffer 100 years of humiliation until 2023 when Erdogan changes constitution with a supposed Lausanne treaty expiration. Japan can't change constitution until 2045 100 years after defeat in WW2. Heck, even China suffered 100 years of humiliation after defeat by Britain at Opium war in 1841. It wasn't until 1949 when Mao said zhong guo ren min zhang qi lai le.
