Who made the decision to translate 天启/Tianqi satellite constellation as Apocalypse? Was it the manufacturer or CGTN? Yes Tianqi (Tian-heaven qi- revelation) does mean something similar to the literal meaning of 'apocalypse' but nowadays everybody just use 'apocalypse' to mean catastrophe. It isn't good branding.
Can be both. Lots of people learnt their English without actually using English in a real life environment, so they would not know when to use one of the many meanings from a dictionary.
I remember a story of a Chinese car maker selling cars under a "seemingly" good name in South America, but turned out that the name (the spelling at least) in Spanish means pretty nasty thing. It could have been a good name in English but a bad one in other language.
"save the fire" is one of the examples.

If you don't mind my asking, how far behind is the Chinese space program as compared to US, Russia and France? I apologize if this matter has already been discussed earlier.
