Another 3dprinting fan! I've actually been following Farsoon for a while now. They are considered globally competitive and lead the breed of high-end Chinese 3d printers. Too bad I will never be able to afford, or have practical uses for one of those laser metal 3d printers.

Any update on Chinese manned lunar mission? What an awesome achievement that would be for we asian as a whole.
We probably wouldn't see a manned mission anytime soon, Not that China isn't capable the Chinese approach is simply different Americans just wanted to put their boots there before Russians China however seems to be interested in long term missions involving habitats by the time a Chinese astronaut lands on lunar surface there would be an entire research base along with man-rated rovers waiting for them

Assuming the Long March 9 is on schedule, not until around 2035. But the Long March 9 would already be outdated as expendable rockets likely are not the future. It is more similar to the US Space Launch System (SLS) whereas the future is more like the Falcon Heavy. China's space program is too slow, ugh.

Not quite slow! China started on a very poor basis as it was utterly poor in 1949, then the Korean War, now the US and lackeys containments … But if you look at the achievements so far it is quite awesome. Examples: pulled the world out of financial crisis of 2008, Deidau Navigation System [BDS] covering all corners of the world with resolution better than the GPS and others, landing a moon rover to the dark side of the moon, no one has done it before, the powerful rockets LM 5B series, recently a lander and rover to Mars... the effective fight against the coronavirus.. a vaccine will soon hit the market..

The Beidou system is a truly epic and monumental accomplishment for China.
Salute to those scientists and engineers who have devoted their lives working tirelessly and resolutely under highly unfavorable conditions.
Building something that sophisticated and complex like the Beidou from scratch under western embargo of technologies takes guts, sheer determination, sweats and tears. And they did it !!

It's not only the space guys but the program created an entire generation of geomatics experts and then to consider the whole ecosystem of GIS technologies and the software/algorithmic backdrop behind all that too.

Compass or Beidou has luckily beaten Galileo to win the frequency. It was a surprise to me the Europeans were relatively slow with the Galileo program (multinational problems) because that frequency granted certain advantages. Beidou is also the only GNS system that offers two way communication with ground based signals going to satellites as well for further processes and functions. GPS is aiming to create a similar system with the GPS upgrade programs.

China's space program achievements are honestly often silent background progress. Its own deep space network that actually works as opposed to some others that exist in name only but always rely on American DSN and now its own world leading GNS. I've done some work with a guy who was involved with Beidou program and the achievements and advantages over older GNS systems like GPS was made clear. This was many years ago when the Beidou constellation was less than half complete. Really impressed me.
