Insights on the French ‘Clemenceau 25’ Indo-Pacific Deployment​


For the first time since 1960s, French CSG headed by aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle entered South Chia sea early this year. They were met by 30 to 40 PLAN ships, including an aircraft carrier, probably PLANS Shandong.

"The CSG was under constant surveillance by France’s competitors, according to the Navy representatives present. Whether overflown by Russian Su-35 off Syria, or welcomed by Chinese ships in South-East Asia. “The presence of the French CSG is both annoying and of great interest to our competitors. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) is already coordinating with the United States Indo-Pacific Command (USINDOPACOM) to use the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) sites for relief efforts amid the heavy rainfall and floods across the country, Defense Secretary Gilbert Teodoro said Monday.

It should be noted that this was a procedural ruling by the court. The Marcos faction can and probably will try again next year.

"The Supreme Court has ruled that the House impeachment complaint versus VP Sara Duterte is barred by the one-year rule and that due process or fairness applies during all stages of the impeachment process," court spokeswoman Camille Ting told reporters.

"There is a right way to do the right things at the right time," Ting said, adding a fresh impeachment attempt could be introduced, but not before February 6, 2026.
