China's SCS Strategy Thread

Don't worry, Janiz. The Chinese are much more pragmatic than your side. And South Korea will experience there own Duterte-like rebellion against the US because like the Philippines realized they'll see how they will get the raw end of the deal.
I think they know history of Chinese-Korean ties in South Korea and they're making the best use of it they could now. You know, the part about Koreans never were on equal terms with China but US helped them in their past history. And they can be 'something' more than a satellite state with US which values them. Even it's in geostrategical terms it's more love in 50 years from US than 5000 years from China.

And why does the US look at Japan as a more valuable partner than South Korea? It's because they know Japan is more isolated from its neighbors. Meaning South Korea has more room to be independent not dependent like Japan is to the US. A lot more anti-American rallies in South Korea than Japan.

Well Korea need China to reunite their country . Without China acquiescence there will be no united Korea.
Right now they are terrified by North Korea owning an atomic bomb. So it is natural they want to protect themselves with THAAD. Knowing well China doesn't like it because it is used as excuse to monitor China missile launches.
But over the longer period their economy need China and you need to brush yourself with Korean History
3 time in the past Korea ask China for help with 1 win(Imjin war), 1 lost(1890's), and 1(Korean war) draw.

Unlike Japan Korea appreciate and value their connection to China in term of culture, language and historical tie.

Just give you and example. Most Korean family name come from China the only true korean family name is Park and Kim the rest are Chinese. They adopted Chines name out of prestige or some even blood tie from the time of Chines suzerainty with many southern Chinese soldier station in Korea. And Korean family are required to provide accommodation and food

The founder of most Korean dynasty are Chinese. Chinese language and calligraphy is highly appreciated in Korea.Legend has it korean come from Mt Paekdu or Changbaixan. Large Chinese korean community in Jilin

I get your vibe guys, and if our perspective were reversed??? perhaps we would all agree. I am however very concerned with the adversarial tone that seems to pervade the world as we know it.

The Hebrew Scriptures state that at the end of the age, there would be "Wars, and Rumours of Wars???"

Humanity and world peace does not revolves around "Hebrew Scriptures" and such "war of rumors". Learn from real historical facts instead albeit no matter how boring it may be and can all avoid it instead of feeling paranoid because of some religious institutional elitist said so.

Ah, my friend Brat, remember Matthew 7:6... "Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you."

The reason is Japan is a beaten dog that bitten a few people in the past, it has no others to turn to except its american master. Asians still hates Japanese for its war crimes across asia. The american knows it, if Japan is to totally abandon American ally it will just get strung up like a stray dog. That's why Japan is completely "loyal" to the American because it has no others to turn to.

Koreans on the other hand have no such baggage. That's why Korean culture is popular across Asia far more than Japanese culture. They are viewed not as aggressor but victims of wars.

I am starting to understand Duterte's bizzare comments that made the world's headline in the past few months - bad mouthing Obama and questioning its alliance with America. It is because:

Philippines’ Duterte to visit China

He seems to be a far more intelligent politician than when I first read about him. Play both sides and reaps the maximum benefits seems to be his strategy. America cannot lose Philiphine as ally in the east as Philipphine is best situated to monitor PLAN's every move. So America will bulk at Duterte's demand and I expect more goodies will flow to Philipphine very soon.

What I fear is Duterte may miscalculate America's resolve to stay in the game in Asia at all cost.
As demonstrated in the middle east - americans do not flipping care about anyone in the world except themselves - they have been doing it for decades, they will topple legally elected governments as long as it suits their selfish interest.

Duterte right now is walking a very very fine line - one wrong move and if he is lucky he will get assassinated, if he is unlucky expect Asian Spring and civil war in Philipphine with rivers of blood and more appalling images on CNN of bloodied children on street and coalition bombing on cities in the name of "humantarian aid".

And that's a reason for Koreans to like PRC?

Korea was a vassal state of China for centuries. And that's not the proudest part of Korean history. They don't like to talk about it too much. Surely that's a symbol of what Korea can become once it's ties from big brother grow too strong and it can meddle into their internal policy.
Unlike Japan Korea appreciate and value their connection to China in term of culture, language and historical tie.
It seems like you don't know what you're talking about when it comes to nowadays Korean culture. The part about language I will leave alone because I don't know what you're even writing about as both languages are completely different (Korean is similar to Japanese, not Chinese).
Just give you and example. Most Korean family name come from China the only true korean family name is Park and Kim the rest are Chinese. I'm not even trying to comment on that... There are millions of ethnic Koreans living in today's PRC. That's if you didn't know about that.
Excellent movie from Imjin war"The admiral and roaring sea"
12 Korea ship under admiral Yi beat 133 Japanese ships by luring them into narrow channel and let the recirculating tide destroy them.Good Movie available in Youtube BUT in Arabic ?
lol, I don't know why you post it here but It's not excellent and has got many historical discrepancies. Fun fact if didn't know about: Koreans and Chinese were afraid of starting hand to hand combat on swords with Japanese samurai as they were considered to be too good in that aspect. The battle presented on the movie was between Korean navy and Japanese vanguard forces (not the main one). It ended without stopping Japanese fleet from going through that strait and Korean fleet became useless after this battle to the rest of the war. But I can see a reason why they're making films about that and not about great defeats that Chinese and Korean warriors suffered around that time which were pretty similar on brilliance of Japanese commanders on most of the cases. But maybe it was because Japanese had so many victories there that they don't pick up a specific one and make it mythical? Just my guess.
The part about 'american masters' should should be enough to report your post for deletion. I don't know from which planet you come from writing how Japanese are hated in entire Asia when here, on planet Earth, it's not true. Japanese even have a term for those 'anti-Japanese' countries - they call them 'tokutei ajia' which means 'specific Asia' and consists of three countries: both Koreas and PRC. That's all. Chinese living on Taiwan don't feel like that (but they were probably brainwashed by 'americans' after the war according to your logic I presume). And even chairman Mao had some thankfull thoughts about them after the war (don't ask me why).

OK, I'll stop here as it's SCS thread.
