Chinese military warns off Philippine vessel attempting intrusion near Huangyan Dao

GUANGZHOU, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Southern Theater Command tracked, monitored, and warned off a Philippine vessel that attempted to intrude into the waters off China's Huangyan Dao on May 5, a military spokesperson said Thursday.
"The actions were carried out in accordance with laws and regulations, effectively preventing the vessel from entering China's territorial waters," said Tian Junli, spokesperson for the theater command. He said the operation is "professional and legitimate."
Tian said that relevant remarks made by the Philippine side ignore facts, confuse the public and attempt to mislead international perception.
"Huangyan Dao is China's inherent territory," Tian stressed, urging the Philippine side to "immediately stop all infringements, provocations and misleading hype."
He added that the command's forces remain on high alert and are fully prepared to defend China's sovereignty and maritime rights, as well as to safeguard peace and stability in the South China Sea.

BEIJING, May 8 (Xinhua) -- The Chinese and Cambodian armed forces will conduct a joint exercise in Cambodia in mid-to-late May, a Chinese defense spokesperson said on Thursday.
The drill, which is codenamed Golden Dragon-2025, will focus on joint counter-terrorism and humanitarian assistance and disaster relief (HADR) operations, said Zhang Xiaogang, spokesperson for China's Ministry of National Defense, at a press conference.
The exercise will be conducted both on land and at sea, as well as in relevant air spaces, while there will also be cultural and sports exchanges, and vessel open day activities, Zhang added.
This exercise will be the seventh of its kind between the Chinese and Cambodian militaries.
"It will facilitate practical cooperation between the two sides and contribute to the building of an all-weather China-Cambodia community with a shared future in the new era," Zhang said.

@ansy1968 @Bellum_Romanum and any other members in the Philippines - are you able to give a summary of yesterday's elections, the winners/losers, and what it will mean for the Marcos/Duterte rivalry as well as foreign policy vis a vis China? Much appreciated!
I am not actually in the PH. But what I have gathered so far regarding the local elections is that people from the Duterte camp is suspecting and making allegations of vote tampering in favour of candidates that are supportive of the current regime. The voting machine are apparently rigged or hacked in favour of the always corrupt Marcos regime. Like father like son indeed.
The Philippines are too high on stupid. I have stopped entertaining the barkings of loser country desperately trying to jin up a war that would not just break that island country to pieces, but would once and for all shatter their delusional grandeur into oblivion.
