China's Internet Boom, Games, Addiction & other news

Honestly, what a piece of bs.

I don't see the West or in the US censor Chinese games like Evony do you? As a matter of fact, Chinese MMOs are slowly creeping into the US.

World of Warcraft? Somehow deemed a threat to China and getting banned?

How the hell a tech blog like TechCrunch getting banned?

Or Sinodefence getting banned just having Tankman in one of the articles?

Lets ask yourself how much the Chinese government controlled media has done to expose the corruption in business and government before they get out of hand.

You honestly never been to China, talked to mainland Chinese to see what's right and wrong. There.

There are a lot of shitty things happening the US but that does not excuse the even shittier things happening in China right now.

You criticize Hollywood and go watch mainland Chinese movies for a change. You realize why Taiwan, Japanese, Korean soap drama are more popular in China than their mainland equivalents? You realize why overseas Chinese in Asia watch more of the Korean soap opera than those in mainland China? Ever figure out why China's youth don't really watch TV anymore but spending their entertainment hours in the Internet?

Bruce Lee's best work are not done in China, they're done in Hong Kong when it was under British law and rule. As a matter of fact, it seems the best films made in Hong Kong were made before the PRC turnover.

The only reason why Asian films are more "accessible" in Asian nations is because of the natural interest of the viewing audience. European shows aren't that accessible in the US either, and its not because of censorship, its market taste.

The question remains. Do you think China would have allowed Chinese equivalents of Apocalypse Now, Platoon or Full Metal Jacket, or are they going to allow only their own Rambo equivalents?

Like I said, if you don't think China is rapidly improving, then go ahead. If you think China is not improving, then I disagree. I don't expect a large nation like China to change overnight or over a decade. I think China is improving quickly, and I would like it to improve faster, but I'm not going to hold unrealistic expectations about China.

Anyhow, here's an interesting article on the Cold War regarding government and business conspiracies. The Russians were sneaking around with their sub or testing it out, then a mistake happened so the sub sank. Then the US tried to steal the sub under the disguise of business or underwater mining. The US worked with business tycoon Howard Hughes to hide their theft.

Here's an amateur report on media cartels in the US:

In summary, a few people in the US have monopolized most of the media in the US. Hmm, why isn't Google protesting about this. Instead, Google seems to be part of the cartel. They scratch each other's back, while claiming to stand up for justice and to fight against injustice.

Oh man, and why do you think Google is at odds with News Corp?

Why do you even think that traditional media aka newspapers are losing money everywhere?

That's right, because more and more people are turning to blogs for the news. Who hands them the blogs? Google. Search engine and Blogger, among other things. Disruptive technologies.

Traditional media now screaming at Apple to save them via iPad. Apple = another media outsider that totally screwed the media industry with its iPod and iTunes.

Because of the web revolution---forged by search engines like Google's---citizen blogging became the norm. 33 billion videos are consumed by Americans each month from YouTube, the vast majority of them are made by citizens, not huge media companies. That's right, and look at the popularity of live streaming video like UStream.

Another challenge to traditional media is social media. Again because people can now broadcast themselves, even from cellphones. People are spending more time on social media like Facebook and Twitter among others than on traditional media such as newspapers.

Traditional media was first disrupted by the cable industry, and then by the Internet, then by various Web revolutions themselves.

Google doesn't make that much money on traditional media, given the readership of traditional media outlets are down. Instead, it makes the most by galvanizing and exploiting new media---citizen blogs---whose collective output is a form of informational product by itself.

When you write and comment in forums like these, don't you realize that you are now in effect, a citizen media machine of your own. That replies like this constitute some form of informational gross domestic product of their own? Posts like these, much like anything that is posted, become consumable media. Anything you type into the Internet, any idea you share, whether its in this forum or other forums or in social networks, all become part of consumable informational media.

All goods that are consumed by someone else.

That's how Google makes money. By advertising on the highways that leads to these goods, the new media.

When you realize this, you realize why censorship is at odds with Google's bottomline. Censorship simply locks the freedom of Chinese expression, which in turn when it all becomes words, Chinese expression becomes a massive consumable resource. This creates its own GDP. One of the reasons why GDP is high in countries has a lot to do with being connected on internet and mobile and being able to harness those connections or market their media.

Wrong. China has been improving prior to the Olympics, then it started to regress.

In 2009, there has been more than 60 additional restrictions placed on the news media. Blogs are already joking the only thing left is to regulate thinking.

Blogs? Christ, you think blogs are going to be a major news source? At least with traditional media, you can rely on them for factual accuracy when it comes to non-controversial topics. With blogs, is there anyone who verifies accuracy?

I think reading blogs, amateur news, and corporate news is fine as long as you aren't gullible and believe in everything you read or see. You have to read from various sources to get a good picture of what is really going on. As the cliche goes, there are two sides to every story.

Anyhow, Blogger is known to censor controversial bloggers. Blogger erases people's blogs with zero to minimal warnings. I think Blogger is owned by Google. I believe Facebook's founders have CIA relations.

Here is a very brief history explaining why everyone should unquestionably trust and obey Google, because Google knows best and Google does no evil (besides possible corporate espionage and working with government espionage):

There's opportunity everywhere! Brain drain kind of flowing both ways. [Sarcasm]Maybe, just maybe, it's not all doom and gloom in China's future. Or maybe someone should tell these returnees that China is becoming more oppressive and changing for the worse.[/Sarcasm]

Information on the National Security Agency, and some of its espionage within and outside of America:

.

Many times, the National Security Agency works with US corporations and organizations to spy in America and to spy outside of America. The espionage is for military benefits, political gains, and economic advantages.

It's pretty obvious China's government and Chinese companies are involved in spying inside and outside of China. I guess Google and the US government assumed China was naive about spying, and tried to sneak around China. It was spy vs spy, but the US espionage ran into major problems, so Google and the US government claimed to be the victim.

It turns out some eastern Europeans have been behind the google attack as well as other cyber attacks. They simply use computers located in China as tools.

I am not surprised about European hackers in China. However, let's not get any ideas here that China is an angel amongst demons. China does have spies inside China and outside China. Spies appear in the strangest places.

Hal Turner (a white supremacist) was/is an FBI informant. He was well compensated by the FBI when he acted as a double agent or spy on white supremacist activities around America and in Brazil. Link:

. The FBI has a long history and a lengthy list of spying on people (e.g., civil rights leader Martin Luther King).

The government is not the only ones employing spies. Corporations use spies. People and various clubs could hire spies.

I am sure China is aware of the dangers and unpredictability of espionage, which is why China is not going to trust everything done and said by Google, which has huge corporate ambitions and works closely with the US government.
