CASIC's rather unsubtle ad for the various missiles they export, including the CM401 AShBM. Note that in this ad CM401 is launched from canister launchers and not VLS.

Csis report, key info being according to their estimates, df26 launcher increased to 72, df17 launcher now at 16
Quite surprised that df16 only has 24 launchers though.

And the number indicates this is obviously not a country planning for any major war

Are there any new developments in terms of short range ballistic missiles? China's latest SRBM seems to be the DF-15 which is already quite old. Compared to newer developments like Hyunmoo, KTSSM, Iskander, its starting to show its age a little, having less accuracy and higher weight/size

The recent skirmish with India seems to show the usefulness of such SRBMs, a missile with a range of 500-600km could threaten new delhi from tibet.

You do realize the DF-15 has multiple variants, with the DF-15C having a single digit CEP? The latest DF-15 variant is night and day compared to the original that was fielded 30 years ago.

Wouldn't new long range rocket artillery like PCL191 replace SRBM to some degree? Those rockets are guided, much cheaper but less powerful. The same launcher could also launch Fire Dragon 480 tactical ballistic missile if you need more punch.

Really? I thought the C version was just the same missile using a bunker buster warhead. Wiki claims CEP to be 15-20m

The closest I could find was DF-16 which has 5-10m CEP but that's a MRBM tier.

Still, both are no match for KTMSS's 1-2m CEP

Do you know the range for the Fire Dragon 480? I've seen some claiming 500km while some claim 360km. It doesn't seem to be in PLA service though

Has China ever considered ICBM carrying riverboats? River transportation is a a lot cheaper and more versatile than road transportation. No major road network has to be constructed for river platforms.
