This is what i call reviving a 12 year old thread.

Did you ever hear the tragedy of Darth davidau "the wise"?

I thought not. It's not a story the main stream media would tell you. It's a Sinodefence legend. Darth davidau was a Dark Lord of Sinodefence, so powerful and so wise he could use the internet to influence the forums to revive threads... He had such a knowledge of the dark side that he could even keep the threads he cared about from getting deleted.

The dark side of Sinodefence is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural.

He became so powerful... the only thing he was afraid of was losing his power, which eventually, of course, he did. Unfortunately, he taught his apprentice everything he knew, then his apprentice banned him in his sleep. It's ironic he could save threads from deletion, but not himself.

Dear Diary,

Today, r/prequelmemes made its first incursion into SDF. There is truly no escape from the clutches of the Senate.

Post is a REQUEST: Not sure whether to put it here or in the ask anything thread.

Can anyone give an estimation of numbers/inventory of PRC ICBM/SLBM? From pessimistic to optimistic as of May 2017. I know the numbers are classified and hard to guess plus sources from the DoD to others tend to vary. Plus how many DF-31, DF-41 launchers are there per brigade?

ICBM - DF-5/DF-5A/DF-5B/DF-5C - 20
ICBM - DF-31/-31A/31B, DF-41 - ??
SLBM - JL-2/2C - ?

Thanks in advance.

You have very good PDF on" FAS " with numbers you can see in general out but a true report !

10 DF-5/A
10 DF-5B
8 DF-31
25 DF-31A
18 JL-2 for 4 Jin maybe a class of up to 6 ?

Quite sure DF-5C is not in service yet DF-5B appearing only end 2015.

In fact China have much less ICBM than USA, 400, Russia 310 same for SLBMs and not Strategic Bombers but much MRBM, SRBMs.

IMO the reason that china has so many M/SRBM is that due to a lack of a credible long-range attack aviation. As for ICBM, i think that china could have more, but they choose not to, perhabs due to political reasons, to not antagonize western public opinions, unlike russia which only exports energy and doesnt care what the west thinks about them (central/eastern europe depend on russia for natural gas).

China built a large number of M/SRBM for essentially the same reason Germany built a large number of V-2s rather than bombers, that is Ballistic missiles puts less demand on the entire manufacturing/logistic supply chain Compared to conventional air power that can spenetrate the latest air defense.

The M/SRBM also has the same weakness as V-2, which is unless it is nuclear tipped, it is a hideously expensive, one shot way to deliver a fraction of the ordanance a conventional bomber or fighter bomber can carry.
