Did this guy just claimed that China at present only has 2200 ballistic and (hereby I assume long-range) cruise missiles, while Japan is about to build 1000?

If China really only does have 2200 missiles in its entire PLA arsenal, then please God help us all.

It seems Taiwan believes the DF-41 has a conventional variant. Or they may be thinking that PRC will nuke them. I think both are extremely unlikely, especially the latter one.
Up until something like this year's exercise, standard thinking from Taiwan is the MLRS that PLAGF will use to attack Taiwan was WS-2. Never mind it was export only and never procured by PLA.

Seriously I wager their understanding of PLA is probably worse than a lot of people on this forum.

do you really thinks , PLARF has only 2200 missile? these reports have nothing to do with actual PLARF inventory and Chinese industrial might. let them live in parallel world. its all nonsense

i think we have already discuss before, these white self-proclaimed China experts know shit about China even a local Chinese netizen have more knowledge.

An interesting ranking on official norinco bidding webpage.

Qingyang Chemical Industry Corporation, which is the sole producer of CL-20 and main producer of HMX, RDX, AP etc, has spent 46 million RMB on bidding in 2022.

Xi'an Modern Chemistry Research Institute, which is the largest solid propellant producer within norinco, has spent 29 million RMB on bidding.

what do you mean of "spent 29 million RMB on bidding" ? is it the spend of bidding preparation or the actual value of bidding?

"29 million RMB" is not much at all

They might mean 2200 missiles in the PLARF capable of hitting Japan. As in 1900+300.

For some reason the author concludes the whole PLARF only has 2200 missiles.

I think that's a big underestimate even if it's just missiles that can hit Japan, especially on the cruise missiles. A simple google will show in 2009 US military report to congress, the Ground launch CJ-10 was estimated at 200-500 in number. Somehow the total PLARF has now is only 300? The MRBM numbers don't seem an orders of magnitude off compared to cruise missiles.

I thought there was some interesting info, like 33% increase in the number of missile brigades between 2017 to 2019 alone. Anyway the whole article is written really poorly.
