US anti HGV measures like glide breaker had me worried for a moment, but it seems like China isnt reactive anymore, but proactive. Proactively defeating US countermeasures when they are still in the ppt stage!
Mommy HGV launching baby HGV to slam into US glide breakers or KKVs is the way to go. With this, the US can only hope for orbital directed energy weapons as HGV countermeasures.

Alternatively maybe this is MIRV for HGVs. Depending on the size of the sub vehicle they may or may not be nuclear capable, but even if they're not I seem to remember Project Thor's kinetic bombardment thing called for both "orbital telephone poles" and "orbital crowbars". The sub vehicle could be an orbital crowbar type deal for conventional attack.

Yes, it was the Russian estimates that drew my attention as well (Karber's claim about 3000 nuclear warheads is obviously delusional)

As for the Russian assessments, It was my first time hearing about them, and it seems that both of the Russian Generals estimate that China has 1600 nuclear warheads.

Mind you these assessments were made in 2012
One would have assume that russia had better intelligence than the americans due to geographical proximity

So this is the REAL reason the US freaked out so hard over this test. I was wondering why they were so impressed by a simple intercontinental HGV when the Russians had one deployed already.
I have more intelligence than entire "will magically go away in April" population, but even i cant figure it out.
China fired a missile from a hgv during in its hypersonic flight? How does that ever work?

An anti-ABM missile perhaps? If an inceptor is about to intercept the HGV it actually launches a small anti-interceptor missile to destroy the interceptor?
This doesn't make sense though. Since any interceptors can't hope to match and exceed the speed of the HGV, which I assume is Mach 15-20, they have to be launched in front of its current position along the flight path and meet it at either a perpendicular or obtuse angle right? (am I wrong in that assumption and there are interceptors fast enough to catch up from behind and make an intercept at an acute angle? if so, ignore what follows.) If this is the case, wouldn't the anti-interceptor interceptor need to be launched forward of the HGV to meet the interceptor before it hits the glider? Is it even possible for the glider to launch something that then moves in front of it, which would obviously have to be faster than the glider itself?
My first guess was nuclear submunitions for secondary strikes under the flight path of the glider's main target. In fact that's what one first thinks when hearing the words "orbital bombardment system", i.e. something that drops many nukes, not just striking one target only.

Ah it all makes sense really. it was actually China's sixth-gen fighter test flight, it was also testing ejection seat apparently.
