中程导弹核弹头 means literally: medium ranged missile, nuclear warhead. Or more accurately: nuclear tipped medium range ballistic missile.

Schummi you beat me up . Exactly here is the brief announcement from Global times . A timely reminder for all the warmonger out there. This is not rumor it come from Xinhua a national news agency quoting ministry of Defense.
Apparently the western intelligence mistook preparation for this test as Satellite Killer test. Yup definitely a step forward for defense against loose talk of nuking China

China again carried out a land-based mid-course missile interception test within its territory Sunday.

Xinhua learned the news from the Information Bureau of China's Defense Ministry.

"The test has reached the preset goal," an official with the bureau said.

"The test is defensive in nature and targets no other country," he said.

新华网北京1月27日电(记者钱彤)记者27日晚从国防部新闻事务局获悉,2013年1月27日,中国在境内再次进行了陆基中段反导拦截技术试验,试验达到了预期目的。这一试验是防御性的,不针对任何国家。

US tested their interceptor, without the ballistic missile, earlier on the same day. China likely notified them of their impending ballistic missile launch.
I don't believe for 1 second it's a coincidence. Looks like one side thought they would lose face if they let the other side test without a response. The question is which side is for real & which is for show ?
Consider China actually had to launch a ballistic missile & intercept it which would require much more preparation.
Amazing isn't it how decisions at the top are made sometimes. :)

You always notice the other side prior to rocket lunch, otherwise this sort of thing might happens. Serious stuff, good thing Yetsin wasn't drunk that day.

"The rocket, which carried scientific equipment to study the aurora borealis over Svalbard, flew on a high northbound trajectory, which included an air corridor that stretches from Minuteman-III nuclear missile silos in North Dakota, all the way to the Russian capital city of Moscow.

During its flight, the rocket eventually reached an altitude of 1,453 kilometers (903 mi), resembling a U.S. Navy submarine-launched Trident missile. As a result, Russian nuclear forces were put on high alert, and the nuclear weapons command suitcase was brought to Russian president Boris Yeltsin, who then had to decide whether to launch a nuclear barrage against the United States.
