Members can't say a few words slightly off topic but we can spend a page and a half talking about nonsense over Deino's reputation with Chinese PLA watching community. Is translating shark pen and poking fun that interesting?
Eh, I think there’s a difference between some ribbing about personal interactions and trying to bring in substantive contentions that are outside the topical scope of the thread. One of these actually derails the information content of the thread, especially when they encourage long contentiously entrenched back and forths.

Most of them know Deino is "on their side".

From what I have seen, there are several factors at play here

- Quite a few are displeased with the publication of books that use images from Chinese photographers

- How this impacts OPSEC for PLA enthusiasts. Even though Deino has shown himself to be friendly, some are still distrustful due to the nature of the subject

- Some think Deino’s presence encourages certain individuals to send him material, especially stuff that hasn’t been shared on the Chinese internet first, which might increase the chance of leaking crucial information. For example, someone might have a nice picture they took that they want to share, but they don’t want anyone to know it’s them. Deino could provide a potential avenue here.

- Just ingeneral, some people prefer to keep things within a “smaller” circle on the Chinese internet. It’s a whole different thing they have to deal with if something is found on the foreign internet and can be traced back to them. I’ve been thinking about this wtih regards to the Guancha podcast transcriptions for a similar reason

- Some also disapprove those that send material to Deino as it's seen as "simping foreign mil fans"
I'm new on this forum, but there is so much interesting stuff in here. Deino should get a medal!
