I’m confused, how does any plane shake off missiles that can pull 30+ Gs? My current (and very unknowledgeable) impression of modern air warfare was fat missile truck vs fat missile truck with awacs and other sensors. Pew pew missile. And if you have a missile coming towards you, you flare and turn or accept your fate or get eaten by the missile anyways.
The missile has a maneuver advantage but it has to close distance and it has limited energy unlike the plane. That means you don’t have to turn as severely as the missile to avoid it, just fast enough at a sustained speed and sufficient angle to get out of the missile’s maneuver envelope before it reaches you. Defensive maneuvers still matter even in BVR.

What I meant is that with (at least) certain degree of maneuverability, the J-36 would have a better chance at shaking off incoming enemy AAMs, not that it's a 100% guarantee for the J-36 to shake off any incoming AAMs aiming at it.

On the other hand, if the enemy manned fighters or UCAVs managed to sneak in close enough to the J-36 and launch their AAMs (or if the J-36 didn't manage to detect the enemy warplanes/missiles in time), that J-36 is still toast anyway.

missiles are also likely only able to pull maximum at high speeds; at the same time 30 (even 50+ gs) at mach 5+ doesn't actually turn out to be that much; and a slower moving plane can pull less hard yet force the missile to pull extremely hard due to the speed difference. and when the missile manuvers, it loses energy (speed) which it can't recover, and it can't pull as hard, etc; making defeating missiles kinematically difficult but not impossible.

Just thinking out loud but I wonder if the intention is also to have the J36 having a secondary role of carrying nuclear tipped standoff ALCMs like a CJ20 variant etc.
This new capability if realized would significantly alter the strategic balance of power in the Westpac for sure.

Nuclear weapon I really doubt but I do anticipate anti-ship role.
