Even if the WS-15 only does 16 tons, the thrust and weight ratio would not be ideal for a dog fighter, but still very high for any other combat role.
nobody knows the exact specifications of WS-15. its confidential.. all are just estimate and info from different research papers. but WS-15 definitely has more than 16 tons of thrust.Even if the WS-15 only does 16 tons, the thrust and weight ratio would not be ideal for a dog fighter, but still very high for any other combat role.
Maybe it won't go to dog fights. There are no dog fights in the latest 5.7 air battles, and they are all over-visual range attacks? Missiles are more important than engines. On the other hand, new models of aircraft will not be equipped with new models of engines. The reliability of the WS15 is not guaranteed.即使WS-15的推力只有16吨,其推重比对于空中格斗机来说也并不理想,但对于其他战斗角色来说仍然很高。
Eh, still quite some time before they get into initial production.Maybe it won't go to dog fights. There are no dog fights in the latest 5.7 air battles, and they are all over-visual range attacks? Missiles are more important than engines. On the other hand, new models of aircraft will not be equipped with new models of engines. The reliability of the WS15 is not guaranteed.
The USAF hinted that the F-47 will have a combat radius of 1000+ nautical miles (1852+ kilometers), top speed of Mach 2+ and planned for 185+ units. In the meantime, the YFQ-42A/44A will have a combat radius of 700+ nautical miles (1296+ kilometers) and planned for 1000+ units.
Both the F-47 and YFQ-42A/44A are planned for service entry within the 2025-2029 timeframe (fine for the loyal wingman UCAVs, LOL-ed for the F-47).

USAF is now very dissatisfied. Compared with 6th gen aircraft other countries are developing, F-47 have no obvious characteristics.
Firstly, (look at) mach 2 speed, not-much-improved combat radius. Especially considering heavy 6th gen aircraft some countries are developing, which self weight, fuel oil, and propulsion, are all greatly improved. For these heavy fighters, combat radius like 1000+km or 2000km, can be easily breakthrough.
Besides, as for so-called drone combat, USAF set a manned/unmanned ratio of about 1:5. However, other countries can use swarm tactics via datalink, to control hundreds of, or even more drones.
杜文龙 is not a trusted source.Just in: In a recent CCTV program commenting latest F-47 features revealed by this image, expert hints J-36 as a heavy 6th gen, can easily control hundreds of drones/CCAs, with combat radius significantly over 2000 km.

Apparently, other/some country(ies) here is referring to China. This is a typical modest & implicit expression always used by CCTV.![]()
