Great work Planeman. I can't help but be impressed and sometimes amazed at the skills some members possess and the time they spend using those skills. Some of the work we see in this forum deserves to be published.

Thanks for this contribution which will be a valuable reference.

I guess the fact that Planeman has entered the Krivak under the heading, Mystery vehicles, emerging technology and speculation… acknowledges the fact that it is a mystery.

A couple of the Ukraine Krivak Is were listed for scrap so maybe it could be one of them.

The image that can be seen in Google Earth does appear to match that of the deck plans of a Krivac shown in my old 1982/83 edition of Jane's Fighting Ships.

well I just looked the Google earth pic, and it appeared to be atleast 123 meters long, and looked like a stripped down Krivak III...But then again I didnt find any refrence pic to a Russian or Ukranian Krivak III in Google earth. Perhaps we should find those to make the final assumptions.

Golly, not like you to be playing catch-up.

This is my analysis from a few weeks ago comparing the mystery Krivak with a Google Earth Krivak I... same altitude etc.

Note the shadow of the rear structure on the North Korean example.

And Krivak-IIIs for reference:

The vessel looks quite ´smooth´ almost like Planeman suggests with a kind of ´sealed surface´ perhaps indicating that the NK's have mothballed the ship for the time being (...but possibly they are currently working on interior installations).

Dear Planeman are there any indications how long the vessel has been moored at this place? Do you know of a NK military yard possibly capable of building a Krivak class frigate? (...personally I think that the Norks built ´the thing´ left on their own devices using blueprints acquired (do not ask me how...:D ) from the Ukraine!)

North Korea's semi-submersible and full-submersible (with snorkel!!:) ) infiltration boats are an awesome feat and probably PLAN is well advised to acquire a similar but more advanced capability (...at least a chance for NK's ingenious boat designers to earn decent money, unless PLAN has already got some gadgets like these!:D )
