Maybe I was to overambitious but deleting abot 55 posts on 11 pages is a mess esp. only via Handy.

So sorry if a on-topic post was also deleted but these insults, national rants, history lessons and stories on who was in bed with a Japanese are annoying.

Ps... And also sorry that I not aleays can give a reason.

@WebMaster.... Help!!!!
in the meantime I went to brew some coffee not to post on impulse

I would've thought it had been understood by everybody I'm just delivering pizza here

I have apparently managed to avoid being exposed to the worst of the behaviour that is described here.

Nonetheless, if more moderator resources are required -- and it sounds like that is the case -- I think Blitzo would be a good choice. He is a consistent presence on these boards, and his contributions have always struck me as fair minded and reasonable, not emotive, devolving to insults, or displaying any problematic bias. It is impossible to say for certain how any given person will exercise the powers given to them, but based on the evidence available I think Blitzo would be a good choice.

A forum devoted to politically sensitive matters such as this one necessarily rests on a "knife edge" in terms of allowing discussion to develop naturally and to relevant ends without allowing it to become a jungle infested with the uglier impulses of humanity. For what it is worth, I believe the forum moderators have handled this task quite well to date. From my perspective, therefore, if there is an issue it is one of quantity rather than quality.

Regarding the powers given to moderators, I believe they should at least be able to issue short-term bans. Nonetheless this is clearly in the hands of the webmaster and subject to flexibility of the forum software.

At the end of the day the forum, as with any forum, is what we make of it. Those of us who are concerned about the direction that SDF is taking, therefore, should make every effort to ensure our own posts are of a high standard.

If Blitzo has the time commitment and unbiased in his moderation of members, than I think he would be a good candidate. Simple as that.

But like most senior members here, I too agree that we need more moderators.
I've noticed a slight decrease here in quality as compared to say even a few years ago and I believe that is directly due to the lack of moderation from a standpoint of frequency.

However this is to be expected. We all have lives and cannot always fully commit the time needed due to personal/professional commitments, health etc.

Would you feel comfortable assuming the role of moderator also?

I, and many members of SDF, feel you are as exemplary as a forum member can be and are an ideal candidate for a moderator's position.

Thanx jobjed, I appreaciate it. I will consider only if there are no others because there are many here who are more qualified than myself and have the commitment to continue keeping this great forum great.

and I would "whole-heartedly" endorse Kwaigonegin, and remind all that Deino, Siege, Jeff Head and BD Popey, are exemplary of the "heart and soul" of SDF,,, BD Popeye leaving should have alerted those who care about this forum, that it was becoming something "unseemly",, no longer the "bright light" of honesty and integrity....

This all began with the Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the lack of true Candor on the part of many members,,, which as I recall? brought BD to ask Webby for some big gun back-up?? the Sailor Man's request was denied?? after BD left, Jeff Head plowed heart and soul into the SDF, this his "Magnum Opus", and he has served ably with great distinction, at great personal sacrifice of his time and health as he battles "terminal cancer"...

I am frankly quite disappointed in many of you, for not manning up and "self moderating",,, grown men shouldn't have the need to go "running to Mamma!" everytime the play ground bullies pick on you and call you names??

maybe Webby is sick of this whole mess, and will allow those of you who seem to feel a need for more attention to "self destruct",,, personal grudges, name calling,,, particularly those who feel the need to mistreat Forbin and belittle him for his "English Diction"!

Webby may very well be right to let history take its course??

I myself am very disappointed and angry,,, that we would allow this very distinguished forum to be marginalized by our own prejudice, many of you are my "best friends", men of Candor and great honor, I hope you will hang in here, and thank you Deino, for "cleaning out the barn",,

my prayers are that this is NOT hurting our Brother Jeff continues to "battle for his life",, and that friends makes me most angry, very disappointing.

You Gentlemen have done well Deino, and your kindness and patience toward each of us has not gone unnoticed nor un-appreciated, I can only hope Webby is able and will restore your full power and authority to be able to continue your excellent work..

My apologies for our lack of gratitude, but more importantly our lack of support to you whose efforts have sustained SDF to this day...

and my continued prayer is for Jeff Head, and as importantly these friends he has loved so dearly and thought to inspire and encourage,, Please do not allow this difficulty to cause you to lose heart,,, I know in the end, we will pick up our "batons" and get back in the race, and I hope each of you will "take a moment" to clear your "vision" and get back to the passionate work of making SDF as great as each of you are capable,,,, that's why I am still here, I have "FAITH" not only in my God, but in each of YOU!
