Battle of Red Cliff, the Movie

There appears to be a current (as in still being shown in Japanese TV) anime around called Souten Kouru, which is another take on the Three Kingdoms. The difference of this is that its centered around Cao Cao himself (in Japanese, its Sou-Sou), starting from his time as a youth, to his rise and generally portrays him as a hero and not as a villain.

Japanese version of the ending theme of the movie pt. 2, titled "Kuon no Kawa" & sung by Alan Dowa Dama, managed to hit the Oricon charts in Japan as high as no. 3.

My 2 cents . . .

I saw Battle of Red Cliff, and it was a good action movie, but I wished its historical accuracy was a lot higher. I read some history about Red Cliff, and it was very different from the movie in terms of portraying the historical figures, the weaponry, strategy and tactics, the actual battles, etc. I notice the vast majority of historical movies produced anywhere are more fake than real. What I a shame, because real history is so much more mysterious, conflicting, and meaningful.

After watching Chinese movies and TV series for years, I have concluded that movie directors in general and Chinese ones in particular have a tendency to seriously underestimate the intelligence of their audience...:nono::nono:

They put in the "fancy" stuff in an attempt to attract more people and think "we are simply too dumb and can't handle the truth". This can also be said about Hollywood directors.

The overwhelming premise typical ofAmerican advertising and movie mongols is simply that the average audience possess the intelluctual experience of a 12 year old. Those who master this simple concepts wins big bucks, those who fail to understand simply gets washed away.
