I love technology on display! I don't like it hiding behind a cloak of secrecy. Just give us near-do-wells a real little tidbit from time to time. Just a few facts ..not guesses and speculation...Thanks Germany!:)

Anyway I'm always intrested in the weapons payload. I noticed that the grapfic sez.."various"? humm? What sort of "various" are they refering to? The usaual array of missiles and PGM I presume...???... If anyone has any insight please post! Thanks???

For those that don't know PGM = Precision Guided Munitions

Probably means cluster munitions, PGM's, HE-Incendiary (a personal favorite), and probably a means of electronic attack and jamming ability. Well these U(C)AV's are definitely the wave of the future. :) I also like seeing demonstrated technology like this.

my guess is that they mean the new HOPE/HSPO guided missiles wich are currently under devellopment by BGT-Dieht Defence

HOPE.jpg

The HOPE/HOSBO glide missile family meets the requirements of the German Air Force for engagement of above-ground and underground targets and sea targets. Apart from the seeker, the modular designed missiles use the same main assemblies.
HOPE is equipped with a high-performance penetrator warhead whose efficiency is superior to any other system presently in service. HOPE is especially suited for engagement of terrorist centers and dugouts in cave and tunnel systems but also of hardened above-ground and underground infrastructure targets. HOSBO can be equipped with various warheads based on lethal and non-lethal impact principles such as blast/fragmentation, submunitions or High Power Microwaves. Thus, adapted effectiveness around and within the target is possible. In addition, collateral damage can best be avoided by intelligent fuzes. The high requirements placed on precision within the target, all-weather capability and ECM resistance are fulfilled by means of GPS/INS guidance, electro-optical sensors and specially adapted target approach. Due to their aerodynamic design, HOPE/HOSBO glide missiles achieve an extremely long mission range while simul-taneously retaining excellent maneuverability.

HOPE is at present in the demonstrator phase. From 2010, aircraft and UAVs can be equipped with HOPE/HOSBO.

they say it's in demonstrator Phase so its likely the right weapon for this U(C)AV

EADS just admitted the existence of this aircraft 2 days ago only cause there were some planespotter pics of it

If you mean the little slender green thingy - it resembles the small diameter bomb. Whole image looks just like some artist's promo material.

Little update on that. On September 23rd, the Barracuda demonstrator crashed into the sea off the spanish coast shortly before landing. EADS said the reason was unknown.
As far as I know, there's a second demonstrator that is used for some kind of taxi-tests at the EADS military base at Manching.
I havn't found any further news on possible weapons payload.
