The govt really ought to set up their own sanctioned VPN service.
I just signed up to a month of wannaflix to test it out. Its not as easy as an one button app like let's vpn. You have to setup a third party app like FIClash. But i do have to say its feels a lot faster when it comes to streaming youtube videos etc. Also it's a bit more expensive compared to other services around $10.00 a month compared to $3~8 for other services.

depends on what you need to use it for

Uuhm it looks like letsvpn is going to leave the chinese market. Any alternative options to try out, i have mullvad as reliable but slow backup. I heard some good things about wannaflix does anyone on this forum has any experience with this vpn service in China.
Wow, that's crazy. LetsVPN got too public, brazen, popular. Personally, I built my own v2ray server on a VPS provider as a backup. v2ray is impenetrable by the GFW. It's always good to have 2-3 backup services. Reddit has lots of good suggestions for alternatives post-LetsVPN. (Souce

I have been using wannaflix for a week now so far so good and its seems really good for streaming. I watched the Path of Exile 0.5 reveal twitch stream with it on 1080p60fps with minimal hickups during the stream(could be because everyone was asleep in my dorm it was 4am:oops:). There was an instance where they weren't available for like 2 hours this past weekend. But i'm not sure if it was wannaflix or the schools wifi network that had issues.

I should look into setting up a v2ray server in the future if i plan to extend my stay in China.

Years ago I read articles(posts?) on this this website about SSMB
(Steady State Micro Bunching). What happened to that program?
Was it a dead end?

Given i'm a big path of exile 2 fan and with the new Season coming out this week, i did some research on how to play the global version within China. I first tried wannaflix vpn but the latency is just to high 350~450ms. So after searching online i discovered there is actually a gaming specific vpn service called UU boost from NetEase(officially allowed?). So i tried the trial period and its pretty much lag free 20~30ms. The only downside i found is that it conflicts with my VPN so i have to use only one at a time.

So for people that are staying long term in China but also still want to do some online gaming i can recommend UUboost for now.

PS: @Phead128 do you have any experience with low latency gaming(below 50ms) using v2ray server?
